Maybe because it's annoying?

Its annoying to have it displayed in its original language? Thats kind of like saying you'll only watch dubs because the original Japanese audio is annoying, which in turn kind of defeats the objective of watching anime, doesn't it?

When you hate your anime being Japanese, then fucking stop watching it.

Also, this a million times over.

What objective are you even talking about? That everything needs to be in Japanese? How can we even understand it then? By this "objective", even English subs would be defeating this "objective". Unless you mean some other "objective" I'm not understanding here.

It's an English bloody speaking site. Titles should be in English, it's the logical choice.

yeah, but in this case, i'm neutral. I mean, if you google for Melancholy of haruhi suzumyia or suzumyia haruhi no yuutsu, the same thing is going to appear. If you think that way, then what about jigoku shoujo? And Higurashi no naku koro ni? Seto no Hanayome...

There are lots of anime in MAL which the titles are in japanese, and if you try to traduce them to english, you get a different meaning, and sometimes it's safer not to traduce the title. In Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, the english name is considered when they cry. But that's not what it really means. In japan, the cicadas that sing on sunset are called higurashi. But in english you don't have a word to define that.

Okay, I get your point. But still, here on MAL we use the name that's more populair. Which is in our case "The Melocholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", not Yuutsu or whatever it's called. It's always called Melocholy of - so why change it now?

Anyway, I don't really care anymore because I think this anime is dumb.

Is anybody else seeing an extra "u"? Because "Yuuutsu" isn't a word, as far as I know.

If it affects your enjoyment of the series, you are probably too high-strung for the Interwebs. So suck it up and deal with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the DVD title for Higurashi the same in America? My view on this is the title should be what the american copy says. As far as I can tell, the DVD copy isn't the japanese title which makes it an official translated title.

For all the people saying that it's an English site and so names should be in English-
Using that logic, shouldn't you be watching dubs? You live in an English speaking country, so anime should be in English.

I actually have to agree that the original title is better, for the same reason you people watch anime in Japanese. Because it is the original.

I would also prefer it to be in english. It's not like 'Yuutsu' is one of those untranslatable words with hidden meanings and whatnot that lose it's meaning when translated or something of the sort. 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya' works just fine - plus, it has a nice ring to it too.
