According to Sports Hochi, Amano Yoshitaka will direct a new 3D CGI anime movie "ZAN". It's an original samurai movie and a worldwide release in 2011 is planned. Amano established a new studio "Studio Debarocca" and will do the scenario, the key animation and the direction. The story takes place in the late 19th century. A samurai Zan is led by "World of Will" in the different dimension and fights against the evil with his steel beast "Panther". I'm definitely not a fan of 3D, but Amano is involved in this one, so I'll give it a try. |

3D? Seriously, no. Just had too many of them released since Avatar came to the movies already. No more! |

I haven't even seen anything created by this guy so I don't really care about this new creation. But I am interested in the establishment of a new studio. |

Uh you guys he means it's 3D Computer Generated Imaging, not 3D film, it's a CG movie. It doesn't think, it doesn't feel, it doesn't laugh or cry..... All it does from dusk till dawn is make the soldiers die. |

JadeMatrix said: This. Also, are 'movies in 3D' even popular in Japan? Well, Amano does have a pretty solid fanbase in Europe and the Americas, you know. I wasn't assuming that this was going to be in 3D (a la Avatar), but I can't really imagine Amano's work in CG. Oh wait, I can: those CG intros to Final Fantasy IV-VI released on the PSX were horribly gaudy. Unless this is some kind of CG blend of 2D art — which it sounds like it won't be — then I worry that this will end up being some hideous crap, but we can only wait and see. |
