| According to Sports Hochi, Amano Yoshitaka will direct a new 3D CGI anime movie "ZAN". It's an original samurai movie and a worldwide release in 2011 is planned. Amano established a new studio "Studio Debarocca" and will do the scenario, the key animation and the direction. The story takes place in the late 19th century. I wasn't assuming that this was going to be in 3D (a la Avatar), but I can't really imagine Amano's work in CG. Oh wait, I can: those CG intros to Final Fantasy IV-VI released on the PSX were horribly gaudy. Unless this is some kind of CG blend of 2D art — which it sounds like it won't be — then I worry that this will end up being some hideous crap, but we can only wait and see. |
