I researched a bit about the pronouns, and I found this Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_pronouns

I know that Wikipedia is not 100% accurate, but I found this article pretty useful.

This is like a cheesy B-movie with a sky high budget that you can't stop watching despite it being genuinely bad. I guess it somehow makes me feel nostalgic of when I was a kid watching cartoons Saturday morning. x)

So far, the only great thing this show has to offer is its eye candy and design.
However, there's not much else I find notable with this show.
It feels just like a regular comic book. For a show with such high production values, it feels like a wasted effort.

Maybe I would love this show more if I were younger..
Ignoring any fault with the story and focusing primarily on the visuals and the action at hand.

It's not. It may be used mostly by males but females, especially young ones, use it too. Again, it's ambiguous.

Yet you have problems with a small 30cm toy robot transforming into a 3m high "living" robot?

With that logic doesn't that make more than half of the pronouns ambiguous since they either say "both" or "Mostly male/rarely female (boyish)" vice versa? It sounds like you guys are just trying to push the trap joke too far when he's clearly a boy. I mean, I'm not disagreeing that he looks and sounds like a girl but seriously. Guy.

But fine, if it must be that way.

"I just KNEW "-boku" was the one that was used mainly by young males but sometimes females, it depends on the setting, but in this case it's male." Is that better?

This is SO shitty I can't believe someone likes it (talking about the story, music and animation aside). Well, maybe you US people (not american, America is bigger than US >_>) do because you've been accustomed to shit since you were little (I'm talking about those "saturday cartoons" you've been talking about).

The problem is not that it's a cliched story, I don't mind a little of it. The problem is when the ONLY thing about the story are cliches, and nothing really new. I was planning to give some example of a cliche here, but I realised I just should narrate the full 2 episodes so far.

What can I say about this episode of Heroman.

It's cliche levels are up to 11. It's cheesy. It's corny. But it's also awesome and really entertaining to watch.

4.5/5 for this episode

Seems the only thing this series "Flash" is interested in is making sure Lina does get with our "reverse trap" even if there's an alien attack going on. I want to see Heroman kick his ass.

Well, don't you think that's the idea behind this anime. That they intentionally made it cliched and campy.

This series has to either be the most genius parody of early Saturday morning cartoons in the US or the most unintentionally genius parody of said Saturday morning cartoons.

And really nice insulting the US too....*sarcasm*

Then again, we were the reason the Transformers movies and Avatar made so much damn money in theaters so meh. Though, I know why they did.

I know this. That still doesn't change the fact they used the most ambiguous term. Watashi would just mean he was polite, ore would mean he was really masculine, boku... ambiguous, especially at his age.

What I was going for was the science or the physics of the thing. Heroman gaining mass out of thin air is about as believable as him being able to punch the aliens to a pulp, due to the physics behind it being very similar, i.e. mass out of thin air. I'm not going to touch the lightning bit, that's just standard Stan Lee superhero stuff...

Lina is such a damsel in distress... The fact that after screaming she ran TOWARDS the big bug aliens... Well at least Joey doesn't have a secret identity anymore. That's right Joey, a true human doesn't hide the fact that he is kick as and has a robot minion!

Some things bug me; why did he use a "special" punch to finish the bug off? Why does the invocation of Heroman make me think he is trying to say Megaman? Where is stan lee's coffee? Why do the Bugs IMPLODE when punched in the stomach really hard?

At least next episode it looks like the aliens turn into typical storm troopers!
Actually i am enjoying this show, but more so because i can be cynical of everything cliche or shounen like it does. ^.^
