Aww man I'm so worried about the private investigator, I like that he is fighting his inner demons, but non-main character good guys are always at such a high risk of being killed in this show...

Shame, Richard is very easy to root for.

Not expecting him to live much longer... unless of course the author thinks that is too predictable and throws another curve ball.

This is the point in which the story is about to boil over; however, the fact that we do not necessarily know what will happen next is killing me. Yes, Mr. Schubert might die and so might Richard (sadly); however, why does Johan even have an interest in Schubert if money is not the objective? I cannot pinpoint how this will relate to the main story at hand...great episode though!

oh god someone finally figured out something, but you know he dead. Johan will probably kill everyone and clean up nicely before anything can get out. but i wonder why this old man is important enough for Johan to spend 4 years. it doesn't seem like he needs money

also, really missing Tenma and Anna. hope they show up soon

Another strong episode of Monster for different reasons compared to the previous ones.

I really like how we sort of get a psychological evaluation of Richard; whom is the focus here where we know how emotionally invested he is when it comes to these cases especially the ones he couldn't solve. This episode wasn't just entirely plot-focused. All of these "hallucinations" regarding to situations that might be a clue in solving cases he couldn't get done in the past are possibly worse signs of his personal problems than being drunk over the unsolved cases that pile up. In fact, scenes that could come straight out of "Final Destination" seem like a premonition and cautionary warning to Richard on his impeding doom if he gets "sucked in to the spiraling vortex" of these cases. It's almost cathartic and ironic in a sense that he has really no idea how big of a situation is; risk-wise for him when he finally puts the pieces together by the end of the episode. A simple reminder in contrast to that despite his problems, he's still alive in the first place. Hence, I doubt this status will remain in following episodes to come.

I just thought this episode within a span of 23 minutes did such an excellent job of handling the exploration to Richard's character and integrating it to the main-plot. As true to the show in its grounded reality that rigidly sticks to its realism and logic, I also appreciate how much the overall mystery of Monster's storyline is being relied on the effectiveness and investigation of the characters (Richard in this case).

Yeezus... Everything is connected. I'm in awe. This episode was one of the best and yeah because he reviewed all those previous cases, He was able to connect them all to Shuwald, Johan though... He's a freaking beast. How intelligent can you get? I want to know why Lunge with all of his praise havent come up with this kind of deduction...

On a side note:
This detective got sharp instincts. His premonition and ability to sense bloodlust is just amazing... those abilities are the ones keeping him alive I hope he survives all of this for his sake and for his daughter sake...

I was so scared that something is going to happen to that detective before he solved them all
Glad he could do that first
Now....
That detective and that doctor are so going to be killed by Johan
I was a bit fond of them both, please don't :(

Lunge is obsessed with Tenma. He is ignoring reality. I liked the current detective, He's doing a pretty good job. But i am afraid discovering the truth will not do any good to him and his doctor.

It's absurd to think johans doing this for just money. He was head of a money laundering organization and made millions out of it. He don't need to spend his precious time on a lonely man, killing people that are close to him. He has bigger plans. We will find it soon.

But I am happy to see Johan more. There was too much of Anna and Tenma.

Amazing, another ultimate episode from Monster. One thing I didn't like though. Everything was explained like in some Shounen anime like Naruto. I think they should just leave the clues and continue with the story, so it would make people think, not only listen.

Hopefully not, I can barely follow it right now.

Really love how thrilling this episode was. We were literally discovering and linking the pieces together with Richard. Hmm I wonder if Johan will try to kill Schubert's son in an attempt to further isolate him. I don't know why he just keeps using the same name instead of fake aliases either. There must be a reason, even if that's arrogance.

Nice to see that all of this is going somewhere. And Johan, you cruel jerk! I thought you really were turning out to be a good guy.

But seriously, isolating Schubert was most awesome plan that I ever seen. Over 4 years, he worked for isolating Schubert and taking over his company once the time arises. No wonder he wanted to kill the detective. And the detective pieced it together too!

See if you can spot Johan in this. Where is WaldoJohan?

This story happens in 1996. I never thought that the years moved so fast, cause when Johan was small, I thought they were living in the 70's. But they were actually in the 80's.

But eating hot warm food while the characters eat European dishes makes me really relish it. Shokugeki no souma couldn't compare.

Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.

Welp, detective man's gonna die. Part of me wishes the beam falling and the truck almost running him over are coincidences - not some part of Johan's or anyone else's plan - and the detective's paranoid and reading too much into them.

Why Mr. Schubert? Johan could easily get money without a 4 year plan. Also, what the hell is Lunge doing during all of this? He's supposed to be some crazy good detective, but then Braun comes out of nowhere and basically solves the case that Lunge has been working on for 10 years. I love this show, though. 9/10 so far until I see how it all ends.

This is such a good episode. Finally a good investigator who figured out something true. I’m really impressed with him and also with the doctor. But I have a feeling that Richard will be killed. Maybe Johan already figured out that he will discover him somehow so he’s planning to kill him.

It's interesting to note Richard's and Lunge's differences.
“Why does an apple fall when it is ripe? Is it brought down by the force of gravity? Is it because its stalk withers? Because it is dried by the sun, because it grows too heavy, or because the boy standing under the tree wants to eat it? None of these is the cause.... Every action of theirs, that seems to them an act of their own free will is in the historical sense not free at all but is bound up with the whole course of history and preordained from all eternity.”

Applause to Richard for having figured out the connection between all his unsolved cases which all lead to Johan (something Lunge never has done in those 10 years). Too bad he and also his therapist are most likely going to die in the next few episodes...

This is the most adult anime I have ever seen. Not in the terms of gore or nudity, but in terms of mature and dark themes that are very rarely touched in other anime.
