| I liked it, even though as I watched it I had flashes of Ouran HSHC, because of the first episode gender mix up. In this case, though, how can you honestly see Chizuru as a boy? I'll stick around only if it gets a tad more interesting... |

No, I'd say it's the opposite. All these characters are based on real historical figures. And in Gintama their names were all altered. In Hakuouki they appear the same they were in the history. Kondo, Okita and Hijikata are sort of like their Gintama counterparts. Especially Okita. That's becasue of the rumours about what kind of people all of them were. Hijikata was called a demonic vice commander for real, he was rather cold-blooded and killed lots of people. Kondo was a kind and a VERY respectable person that sacrificed himself for the sake of his people (it didn't help much in the end really) Okita died of tuberculosis while he was very young. Also was on the same terms with Hijikata as in Gintama and Hakuouki. He also liked children a lot, despite his a bit sadistic personality. And it's said that when he was dying in a hospital, no one had the courage to tell him that Kondo's been executed, because they all thought Okita was very kind and since he looked up to Kondo, they didn't want to sadden him. Saito was often a spy, a rather cold blooded person too, could play any role his duty demanded. Sanosuke and Shinpachi were drinkers, good friends and party dudes. I don't remember what happened to them, but it's said that Sano survived everything and fled to China. I don't remember about Heisuke. Also, such people as Yamazaki and Katsura existed as well. I don't remember their real first names. Judging from the OP, Yamazaki will appear in Hakuouki. He looks nothing like Gintama's Yamazaki though xD That's just bits and pieces of history, you should listen at school xP |

| How do I slip into these shows? After the first 5 minutes, I was thinking, "this sounds like a vn." Lo and behold, I come here and someone mentions 'otome' which I then look up. How depressing. The episode was mediocre on every level besides the art. The script went about as expected as any parody would poke fun at. Then I find out Deen is doing this, and I have little hope for the show. I may drop it even though I would like to watch a shoujo this season and it's good looking. But Deen is a pathetic studio, so I'm not sure. |

| I spent the whole show trying to figure out if Chizuru was a girl or not. I figured with all the bishies she might just be one of them. On the other hand, did anything happen in this episode besides her getting taken under their care? I don't mind reverse harems as long as they are actually interesting. |
| When I first read about this anime, I immediately thought that it wouldn't be my cup of tea. I had nothing else to do a few days ago, so I watched episode 1. Besides the fact that their reaction of realizing that Chizuru was a girl was SO UNBELIEVABLY OVEREXAGGERATED, it was really good! I mean, really! I look forward to episode 2. |

| I watched both the fake & real subs and I can say chonmage subs are way better than the real ones. xD Some of the jokes are simply amazing and hilarious, they made the episode much enjoyable. Anyway it was about nothing but talking and bishies. I don't mind these things, but I wouldn't mind some action and plot either. xD |

| It was the trite dialogue, convenient progression, terrible music, and introduction of characters that screamed "VN romance game" I've never even played one, but I know the traits from comedy shows and vn adaptations well enough to figure it out once I'm watching. |
| What I thought to be pretty good from the description, turned out to meet a mixed response from me after seeing the first episode. The pace is pretty quick, during 25 minutes we go from her meeting the Shinsengumi to living there to spending some time and getting to know the guys already, and some things they try to keep secretive. And with all that fast pace, let's face it - the episode was boring, with dragged on too long scenes and stuff they could easily replace with something funnier, more enjoyable or just some hints of the upcoming action/reverse harem (?). The audiovisual part doesn't leave much to complain here, the characters look good, the animation doesn't have much flaws. The OP/ED are fine, with the ED especially likable for me, due to the beautiful piano parts. I guess some background music could've killed a part of the boredom that overwhelmed me at times while watching this episode. Overall it's a slow start and I hope it'll get better in time, but the preview of the second episode made me sigh... 5/10 |

| The animation and characters are very nice. ^^ OP/ED songs, too. I hope the story'll be more exciting in the next episodes. Maybe the are too much bishounens...but it's ok after a while. (At first I found it a bit too much...) I hope there won't be anything yaoi related things... (it wasn't in the description...) |

Although it seems like it's needed for the plot to progress, it felt awkwardly done. Also I feel like they could've showed how Sannan got his arm janked up. For a show that focuses a lot on its shounen, I don't see any problem with that. And I was incredibly bored throughout the whole thing. There's a huge lack of score in a lot of scenes. Just made the yawn-fest even better.. |

| At first I kinda liked how it started but then it got so boring... maybe if she was a boy and not a girl it would have been more interesting... all this harem situation is just not my type of thing.. :/ then again without being sure what it is, something just ticks me off.. overall it's not bad, but not interesting either.. 3/5 |

| This had potential, but it failed to deliver. Where's the plot line, dammit? I could have done without the reverse harem situation, I think it detracts from the (so far non existent) plot. Something about Chizuru makes me thinks that she's going to do a lot of whining and crying (something I absolutely can't stomach in female characters). Even as a dude she'd be annoying and boring *le sigh* I give this a 6/10 only because Saito is gorgeous beyond words O__O I'll try and watch another 2 episodes, but...I don't have high hopes. |
