NO! this is not a rant thread. Here we'll dicuss any flaws in the translation and editing process. We should have done it with our pass works but oh well.

well, as long as they don't say crap like "OMG i can't wait for this chapter to come out" I guess it's fine... I was imagining this to be more like an online conference room to discuss things either me or john missed out or screwed up in

I figure we already do that in the comments section when we were doing HC, but yeah I suppose a more centralized thread would be better for organization of whatnot. Having outside opinion should further help us with our work and who knows someone may just drop by and be interested in helping us?

I'll assume we've all read FoA up till chap 5, but i'll spoiler this nway

Hmm if there is a 'kaichou' character, then we also have to maintain consistency between the two terms. Typing out 'vice president' will take quite a bit of real estate space on those bubbles, but we can't exactly just shorten it to 'VP' since we can't just call the kaichou character 'P'.

So my vote is if there is no character that is referred to as 'kaichou', then we'll just shorten it to 'VP'. If there is a kaichou character, then meh keep it the way it is and just attach a note. Though as always I'll probably just end up using whatever I feel fits the bubble best if I'm editing the chapter xD

well her brother is the Kaichou (well, if there's a VP it's only natural there's a p?)

Your English is just weak! Weak I tell you! My sophistication with the use of teh English language just blows your mind!

And jonjon can do it however he wishes, but I'll probably use kaichou and fuku-kaichou if I'm the one editing the chapter with such terms in it. Typing out president or vice president just wastes valuable real estate space imo.

Also rather odd how you went from translating it to "Vice President" and suddenly just changed it back to "Fuku-Kaichou." But whatever couldn't be stuffed to type vice president so just left it as is xD

Gotta standardize how we name the files so let's try to use this format for all subsequent pages: "NL_FA_CH06_01.png" Yeah I am aware that I call it FoA, but the raws name em as FA so *shrugs*

Anyway been comparing my edits to what mango has released and I must say theirs actually look superior to mine, but it's all fluff in my opinion. Their latest release is a bit better, but some parts are still quite difficult to read even if I view it at 100%. So far I've just been using two fonts (Wild Words and Augie), but I'm trying to keep font sizes high and it's much easier to read. Yeah sure it looks rather plain, but meh I don't like having to zoom/squint to read the text.

Anyhoo...8 of 24 chapters edited. I'm pacing myself at 8 pages a day and I should have it out by late Friday or Saturday!

Yeah and you have to tell me how to incorporate those dots into the text since I have no clue how. Well the very first page has "vice president" as the text and too lazy to change it to fuku-kaichou so let's think of it as a built-in trans note? xD

Well the leechers would generally prefer a fast and accurate translation release. I believe we can provide both with no difficulties...just that I take a more 'plain' route when it comes to typesetting :D

Anyway 16 of 24 now...looks to me like the plot is finally progressing at page 17, but I don't wanna edit anymore...so many bubbles. I think the overall quality of these 8 pages is slightly lower than the first 8, but it's most indiscernible. Also tried out some other fonts just cuz I'm just the backup editor for this project xD

Editing 24 pages in 3 days with that many speech bubbles is taking me longer than I expected. I can streamline the process somewhat by over-leveling the scans so I don't have to do minute cleaning while taking a small dip in quality, or I can just forgo the minute cleaning without really taking a dip in quality (just me being anal about it). The minute cleaning process I reckon doubles the cleaning time, if we split editing with the cleaning and typesetting process. Thoughts?

actually splitting up the cleaning/typesetting would just create all sorts of complications. like i for one don't fully redraw unbubbled text; just try to get the text in there as big as possible with a rather large stroke and just mop up the leftovers. then there is also the fact that jonjon is just a far better cleaner than i am and therefore our work will inevitably be incompatible with one another.

DX? and you'll have to guide me to a gothic font then...don't have other font packs installed other than those typically used in manga like wild words. might have to get jonjon on that?

Anyhoo my complaint just stems from the fact that editing a single chapter of FoA is equivalent to two chapters of HC. Hell the script for this chapter is still larger than HC01; which has 35 pages. HC18-19 is still smaller than FoA06 in comparison...

Anyway finally see what you meant by HC is nothing compared to this...kinda overestimated myself with our work in HC and FoA kinda threw me for a loop. At least the story is finally being introduced (ECCHI!) so that should be interesting I guess? o_O

the advantage is that we translated the chapter where the focus of the manga came into play, which realy gives us a good start on the manga

Can't be stuffed...just pick a font for me and I'll use it if it's legible =P

And yeah we actually got to skip the obligatory intro chapters and just got right into the meat of it...the toad is pleased :D
