| This is the most fun recap chapter I've seen in my life. Amazing choice of music! I don't blame Gainax for doing recaps, man, in 1998 was difficult to make anime. And I don't think they had enough money either. It was very fun, people :) |

| Was fine as a recap, not that I think the show really needed one. Especially seeing as how they have been doing front end recaps for most of the series. Don't generally skip things but if I ever go back and watch the series again I see no point in watching this episode. Just a word to the wise for anyone skipping, while the recap does carry into the next episode only the first half is a recap. The second half of episode 15 is new stuff. |

| This is definitely been a really good series so far but it's kinda annoying how often they have recapped things but at least they were previously brief. But now there's 2 episodes of nothing but showing what has already happened and after just 13 episodes...........fuck. Edit: Actually i'm glad that i checked the second episode because actually only half of the episode is recapping so don't skip it entirely. | I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who loved this recap. Really good montage, and perfectly matched music. Very little amount of dialogues, in a recap they can easily bore. Plus, I liked those pools. |
| Why a recap episode? They seem to recap the whole anime at the start of every episode anyway so this is a little redundant. |

| Ah yes, the obligatory recap episode in a Gainax show :) I happened to watch it after a bit of a pause in watching the series, so it was cute to revisit all the funny scenes with beautiful instrumental OST. I don't blame Gainax for making it and I don't hate it as other people tend to. Although the recap episode in Kill la Kill is still unmatched. P.S. I would really like to know the translation of the cuts with statistics. |

| I just watched a 20 minute recap episode that featured not a single spoken word I could understand and I am not even mad. However, I would love to know what the categories on the pie charts were. In modern terms, I would call all of the individual recaps instrumental AMVs. They are clearly aimed at people who know the story, not at viewers who missed several episodes. This is a good opportunity to talk about a part of the series that I missed so far: the excellent music. I tend to overlook that, but taking away the voices and making the entire episode instrumental is a bold choice and one that is largely successful because of the excellent soundtrack of the series that is used for all the recaps. Oh, and it does not hurt that Gainax’ talent at shot composition blows the average youtube AMVer out of the water. Some of the recaps were seriously beautiful. The decision to have this extraordinary recap style also shows the guts of Gainax in their heyday. Their willingness to leave well-travelled path is obvious all over the series. It compares so favorably to a lot of the bland, standardized anime that has come out lately. Where every character is a trope and every scene has been animated before in a previous series in a similar way. That being said, what on earth was going on production-wise. The anime already is so low on actual animation in the standard episodes and then they need to pull a 2 episode recap break with 0 new animation? I would love to hear the story about this. Not that I mind the actual recap or use of stills in the episodes, but what lead to this? Clearly it cannot soley be artistic intent, there needs to be a lack of animation resource explanation, too. |

| as someone born in the mid 80's, i agree that having recaps in the 90's / early 2000's as the new episode of the week wasn't the best feeling ever... i've been there. And if i did watch this series in 2002 when it was aired on MTV in Italy for the first time, this was the episode that resumed the broadcast after the three months hiatus that lasted all summer long, as told by the italian wikipedia (reliable at least when it comes to MTV Anime Night history), so i would have been not amused, even if i never was a recaps hater (three years later, the italian adaptation added a recap out of nowhere for Full Metal Panic Fumoffu in late december for some reason, and it didn't exist in the japanese original run). In hindsight, it was easy to expect this recap to exist considering how much the show is trying to work on a limited budget, and it would have been very interesting to see how negative must have been the pools for this exact episode... |
