Appleseed: Genesis was recently announced at the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008. The computer generated series is currently slated for 2009 and will have character designs from Haruhiko Mikimoto, best known for Macross, Gundam 0080, and Gunbuster. The director, Romanov Higa, and Romi Paku, voice of Deunan Knute also appeared at the event.

The story treatments have already been written for all 26 episodes and 8 of them already have storyboards. The Micott & Basara company is producing and sponsoring this production as it did for the two recent Appleseed films.

I haven't seen either of the movies or manga, but I'm guessing this is before the first movie, or in between the two movies?

hm..hm..definitely a plan to watch series ^^
curious of how they will develop deunan's character,though.
will it be the same as the movies, or there will be differences..?
personally, i hope they'll make it the same as the movies ^^

Ohohohoho so the series is going to be completely computer generated? That'd be pretty awesome although I'm sure it won't be as good as the movies but still impressive enough I hope.

For some strange reason Appleseed has had a hard time being translated to screen properly, so I will have extremely low expectations of this show, especially considering the same people behind the last two movies are behind it. (ok, just the last one rubs me the wrong way)

Same cast and same production studio, right? Must be the same quality like the movies, right?
I wonder about the music though,i love the music from the movies. How will they make the opening&ending song? I hope not less than the movies ^^

I'm indeed very excited for this series!!
but jumping around on yahoo & googling too, I read that Appleseed (the series) has had some series budget cuts/been delayed or what not.. hmm..

I hate to give bad news, im sure it will come out, look amazing & simply be a great series for our collection (on hdd/dvd) but.. we "may" have to wait awhile.. T_T
