XD Everyone tell about your first or worst mistake in the kitchen.

My first mistake, I was about 9 years old. I tried to make muffins on my own, from scratch. I ended up making vanilla flavored rocks! I forgot to add the baking powder.....o.o;; and then I proceeded to burn some of them.

Hm, when I was about 9 or 10 I tried making brownies by myself. Well, I misread one of the ingredients which called for like 1/4 cup of water or something like that and instead put in 1 1/4 cup. Lol Let's just say that the batter was pretty watery. I ended up not baking the brownies, but my dad ate some of the batter just to make me feel better. ^^ But nowadays, I'm very happy to say that I am a master at brownie making! Seriously. I am. Lol

Awwww nice daddy xDD

Hmmm I remember my first mistake when I made a cake for the sale around 10...added too much raising flour but added the other ingredients right so the cake tasted ...um...bitter?

Then I made another cake again with less raising flour and it went right that time!!

I haven't ever really had an embarrassing moment...but when my brother was younger he cut his hand pretty bad while trying to make a "onion sandwich" blood everywhere....i ended up having to clean it up.

My mom did something funny with the grease when trying to cook shrimp tempura, and we ended up having to call the fire department. :< And there was no tempura for us either! Haha.

One time, when I was much younger, a friend and I decided to make chocolate chip cookies. And like you have to do, we started eating the dough before they went in the oven. But it just didn't taste right and we couldn't figure out what had gone wrong. We baked the cookies anyway, but it was a disaster. They were so horrible tasting and just didn't look right at all.

Then her Dad came home and he wasn't sure whether to laugh at us or yell at us. Apparently what we thought was flour was actually a mixture he used to fry fish in. Oops! :)

I tried to cook once and it was a rather embarrassing mistake... <.<

But really, worst I remember is in one house I lived in that had an electric kitchen, I had this situation of mixing up where I had to put a pan/pot/whatever so it'd heat up and where I rested my hand... It was a painful experience.. which sadly also happened several times when the things had been recently turned off too.

Thank god we now have a gas powered kitchen.

Haha I remember a few years ago my friend and I were making some kind of cinnamon sugar cookies and we didn't have enought eggs (because I somehow managed to accidently crack one as I took it out of the container). We added a little extra oil in to make up for the eggs. I think we also mixed up when to use baking powder and baking soda.

But when they were done, the cookies were so amazing even though we made so many mistakes~

Wow, that last sentence seriously sounded kind of philosophical. Lol

If Edy was here, he'd remark on the impossibility of such a statement's level of philosophical deepness even being considered as intentional as flippant... In much simpler words of course and probably in a less snotty, over-the-top way... >.>

Good thing I'm here to fill in for him! :D

Well, edy tends to be full of hot air. o_o; Most breakthroughs in ANYTHING are almost always found by mistakes.

Yeah, specially if it involves beverages & religious people... Many alcoholic drinks were discovered by monks & priests messing up making other alcoholic drinks in older times.

French fries were also a big screw up that some chef guy tried to fix up! :D

I have a mad scar by by elbow from flipping garlic bread (while the pan was still in the oven) because I was too lazy to take it out first. Not so much embarrassing as it is infuriating because it was 100% preventable.

Let's see. I can think of two stupid mistakes. :P #1 would be the time I doubled the butter and nothing else in a(chocolate chip)cookie bar. It turned into a sticky wet(but yummy)mess. XD
#2, and for me far more embarrassing, the time I was making cream sauce and set the flour container down on a hot burner. Now the bottom of the container has ring marks melted into it. -.-'

I make no mistakes ( > . > ). I'm perfect!

Anyways, now that the stuck up moment is gone, I'd say my worst mistake was leave a pot of boiling water to go to the rest room. I completely forgot about it, and when I finally remembered, the water was boiled off, and the stuff that was in the water that couldn't evaporate with it left this pretty white and black ring around pot I was boiling it in. I then proceeded to pick up the pan while still hot with my bare hands. I promptly dropped it, and it left a black burn mark on the counter were it hit.

I was making deviled eggs for my parents party as hors ‘d orderves. The eggs were boiling away nicely until I got distracted by a dogfight in the other room (it was over a bowl/toy or something). They made a mess, I cleaned went upstairs to shower...Got out of the shower and I heard sounds, assumed it was another dogfight in the making and got pissed. Turned out it was the eggs. They were exploding. It reeked of eggs. I panicked, I sent my dad out to get more eggs (for potato salad. . .). The next batch went fine but the story spread (thanks dad). I've made tons of deviled eggs since then, but I always get hints of that story from my parents friends.

eggs make a fun exploding sound!
