Ah cool, we've got a new story intro this episode. Also, new commercial bumpers. :)

Amuro seems to be going through a lot being forced into battle after battle like this.

It was interesting to see Zeon spreading their propaganda, but really "sieg zeon"? did the writers really have to go with the Nazi parallels?

Anyway, the show seems to be getting more and more interesting.

Amuro seemed pretty shell shocked in this episode. I can only hope it doesn't grow worse, especially if more of those blue Zakus start showing up.

This episode had a good bit more politics than usual. Seeing how Zeon reacts to Garma's death is interesting, but I'm not sure how much additional insight it really provides. I'm more concerned with how the ruler is reacting to this. He doesn't seem to interested in interacting with the people, and wants to grieve alone...

In any case, this is indeed getting more interesting. I wonder what that guy wanted with Char.

Another great episode. Amuro's PTSD is really well handled I feel. Going into this I'd heard how this series was slow moving and outdated but I've been impressed time and time again with it. I find the character work has more depth and subtlety than most modern shows, with only stuff like the first season of Tokyo Ghoul matching it. A great series!

ETA: Loved the dramatic extended scene of Amuro eating a sandwich. Very excite!

Things do not go as I expected or as I remembered it, the better. Quite addictive storytelling, the story starts to get more interesting, you start to get into even if in small steps, know best the enemy. I did not expect to see Amuro be defeated so miserably, not even the point of the flag can do. Oh! There's a change in eyecatch.

Amuro really needs to turn it around. We also get our first good look at what Zeon really is.

Amuro Ray Kill Count:

16 kills total.

This is no zaku boy. That new mobile suit is bad ass. I loved the scene with Amuro eating the sandwich too. Great episode, keeps getting better. Plus Char is always welcomed.

That speech at the end of the episode was fantastic. Actually gave me goosebumps. After hearing that, you cannot blame the Zeon soldiers wanting to run through a brick wall. Watching the dub, so huge shout out to Hiro Kanagawa (I think) who played Gihern Zambia. Great work.

Yeah it was good, inspirational for them I'm sure.

Liked seeing Ramba Ral here. He runs a tight outfit.

That blue Zeon suit is powerful, and Amuro just wasn't prepared.

Hopefully the next time Amuro encounters that blue suit, he'll fare better.

We get a better glimpse at Zeon's inner workings and how fascism takes over a revolution. It's chilling given the current climate. That closing scene with the White Base flying away after defeat as the Zeon people chant the name...

It was a nice addition that the people from Side 7 didn't know about storms since they never heard one. Makes the series feel more realistic like more PTSD issues for Amuro after Iceliana's death.

Sieg Zeon!

I felt that one idea this episode got across was the fatigue of responsibility. There was a parallel between Bright and Amuro in this lens. Bright who yelled at the children before regretting making them cry and patting their heads, a great expression of his character in a vacuum. What followed was Mirai comforting him and commenting on the difficulties of leadership. One has to respect Bright's resolve. On the other side, we see the fatigue of Amuro, facing PTSD, and comforted by Ryu. You know, after the slap! Seeing that side to the crew helps build bonds between them and help realize them as people.

This fatigue blended into the battlefield, ideas blended with action, as we both cut to the funeral on Zeon's side, and witnessed the moustached foe giving Amuro a thrashing.

Another aspect of responsibility, although not in the same light, was the responsibility the Zabi family want Char to take for being unable to stop Garma's death.

For an unrelated note, Zeon seems to use the genuine issues of elitism from the Federation to inspire their people to fight in their name and, presuming the narrator was objective, take full control of all humanity. Refugees carry coffee beans in their pockets and want to die on Earth, I didn't catch it in the anime but somebody said in one of these threads that only the rich got to stay on Earth. Earth is a magical place, land and oceans, storms, these are things some people have never seen before, and others deeply miss.

Garma was a good window for getting to know the Zabi family and creating new conflict! I must continue to applaud the narrative for forcing our characters into the heart of conflict with minimalist reasons very naturally. There's a sense of flow and substance. I think it's part of what makes this anime so addictive.

Wonder why the Zeon troops just retreated like that. They seemed to have the upper hand. Maybe they just wanted to test the waters a little and see what the gundam can do.

It's pretty interesting how Zeon gets all the spotlight, while the federation still seems very faceless. Hope that'll change soon, because at this rate 80% of all the proper characters are Zeon guys, lol.

Some serious Nazi vibes from Zeon with the "Sieg Zeon" stuff too.

Amuro is sure experiencing a lot of trauma from constant battle, so much pressure for a kid. It was cool to see a new mobile suit that is more powerful than a Zaku. Also, Char in a suit and sunglasses is everything.

we get to see more of amuro's mental scars, zeon is presented in a more tangible way, ramba the goat ral appears, kycilia tries to get char to work for her. Yeah, you can tell the plot getting better and more complex.

Amuro is a spoiled kid just like Garma, so it makes the latter's death pretty interesting. It'll be interesting to see how Amuro copes and if his PTSD will play any part in the politics of the whole situation.

Wews, a really well-directed episode. The way they showcased Amuro's "Rookie Syndrome" as well as Zeon's dictatorship was really interesting. Also, isn't anyone gonna mention how good the thunderstorm helped set the mood for the battle and the episode as a whole? I know it seems so trivial, but wow, I figured it was a really nice touch.

Ramba Ral and Hamon enter the fray. I want to be sympathetic to him but any Zeonite who keeps supporting Zeon after the Hatte incident is a monster, imo. That was completely indefensible.

Ghiren doing Ghiren things as usual.
