| Seriously, I hope they only licence shows only 4 kids if they're afraid of needing censoring something. also it has to be long, I think. recent shows/franchises are e.g. jewelpet, thriller restaurant, shugo chara, battle spirits: Shounen gekiha Dan, yumeiro patissiere etc. (I think Fairy Tail is too bloody for kids) precure francise could be work too. if they license short (or actually normal with 26 episodes) ones and 13+ ones, I think basquash, the upcoming heroman, weiß schwarz, ukkari penelope (maybe to kiddy?), element hunters, Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica (that anime with the QUALITY van); heck, they can even get K-ON! cause it's one of the most innocent animes japan offers. And they're all popular (if not, it's among the kids only) Thinking back when Viz Media manipulates dubbings to fit mouth movings, they got many hatemails and now stopped using that software. (I dunno what software). Maybe 4kids will appreciate these opinions too? (I have a hunch that they fired some people in these years too.) |

| I'm a little disappointed that 4kids are taking anime titles again. But I don't watch them except for to see how badly they edited it. If it is an anime I like, I'd continue to watch the fansubs. It just makes me feel a little disappointed to know I'll not be able to buy it on DVD so long as it is under their control. Also, if it gets popular it will only be an embarrassment to anime, and lead those non-anime fans to think all anime is like that. 4kids givng anime a bad rep is why they are hated so much. At least they don't appear to do all the cease and desist orders like Funi do. They know that fans of the original won't like their butchering so let the fansubs and stuff slip by. Original anime fans are not ther target audience anyway, so they won't be missing out. They only target children between the ages of 1-10. I've never heard of the series they have licensed, so don't really care at this point, but they'd better stay away from the good, popular anime. Though hopefully they learned their lesson with One Piece. No more taking anime for much older kids and dumbing it down to their age range. There hasn't really been much that they can market really. Maybe they could get Chi's Sweet Home, but they'd have to edit out all references to Japanese lifestyle and edit in American ones.. Yumeiro Pattissiere might market well to young girls. It is aimed at that level in Japan anyway. |

I think we're all right in saying that no one gives a shit about the generic anime they're currently working on...but what if it sparks interest in the US? 4Kids and inflated egos go hand in hand. I don't think it's unlikely that they will get ahead of themselves and search for more popular titles. History will just be repeating itself. They WILL eventually find more titles to assrape. ...And moving swiftly on to my nerdrage rant: Fuck 4Kids! They're the reason I thought One Piece was a piece of crap; I had to be very much coerced into giving it a second try. They constantly give the wrong impression of anime to non-anime fans, massacre good dialogue, and stop good series from getting the following it deserves! They need to stop acting as if a mob of moral police are waiting to jump them at every corner, or stop taking anime for older audiences and fucking it up in a botched attempt at localising and censoring. THANK GOD D.Gray Man is way too dark a shounen for them to even attempt at; there would only be 20 episodes after the censoring! K-ON! would be met with death threats to the management of 4Kids. 4Kids isn't as dumb as people think they are, they know what people think of them. Knowing that, there's no way they even think of taking something as insanely popular as K-ON! Plus, music isn't their strong suit, it would be a disaster. Can't say I'm thrilled by this since I am a part of the 4Kids must die fandom lol. Some of the suggestions made in this thread for possible targets I get, but some make no sense for 4Kids. Index would be quite difficult for 4Kids, though I am intrigued as to what they would do with Touma touching the Walking Church lol. Could be humorous to see the censorship on that scene. If they are smart, they stay away from Dengeki Bunko based anime's, though most of those seem to be getting scooped up by Funimation for some reason (with horrendous results). Just my thoughts |

If it wasn't for the show's they showed on Fox when i was in school,like one piece,mew mew power,do-re-me...ect.I would not be into stuff from japan today. | Wow, I mean I don't like what 4kids did to One Piece either (I think their Pokemon is perfectly fine given the nature of the show), but it's not like any of us will be strapped to a chair and forced to watch whatever they acquire. How many of you people complaining that they'll "butcher your favorites" watch anything dubbed in English at all these days? I bet the only reason most of you even know what they do is because you were introduced to anime through their shows and only found out about the edits later, but you were a kid when you watched it so you didn't care. It seems Shugo Chara! is the show people are the most afraid of them getting. How many of you would watch that in English even if a good company like FUNimation acquired it? Sure, I don't want 4kids to get Shugo Chara! either, but that's because I actually watch English dubs of anime (That and my favorite part about the show, Utau and her love for Ikuto, would very likely get censored in some way) and would want to see that show done by a company I trust. It's just ironic that people are always complaining about things like this when it wouldn't change your life at all (aside from the rants in topics like these) if you didn't even know this was happening, or if it was happening in a different way. Oh, and everyone hating on FUNimation needs to cut the shit. Their dubs are actually good, but you people can't see that because you're too busy fapping to the Japanese language. Damn weeaboos. |
