according to the anime information, this one has 52 eps. I saw them all the way to 51 but it looked like the conclusion, right after they got new powers and Gilmore said that was all he knew.

Also, wikipedia lists a recap episode after 47 and only 51 total http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyborg_009#Episodes

Is there really a 52nd episode ?

It continues, the real ending is episode 51, nobody knows about an episode 52, it's a myth xD

The first 26 are dubbed on Youtube.
What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

"Episode 52" isn't a recap, in all technicalities Episode 52 doesn't exist.
The recap episode comes in-between 47 & 48, and I like to call it Episode 47.5

As for your question: Episode 48 isn't exactly the final episode. The show DOES continue to episode 51, but the series creators kind-of made 48 as a final episode, of sorts.

Episodes 49, 50 and 51 are meant to stand on their own from the rest of the series and are considered an OVA based on the "Conclusion: God's War" arc from the manga (which was meant to be a conclusion to the whole franchise, but remained incomplete due to Shotaro Ishinomori's death).

I say "considered an OVA", but it's kind of weird. It seems episodes 49 & 50 were broadcast on TV shortly after 48, but episode 51 is definitely a DVD-exclusive.
However, 51 was only ever released in a DVD set that included episodes 49 & 50, so the whole thing is kind of like an OVA, but with two of the episodes being aired beforehand.

There's also some information out there saying that some scenes from episode 51 were spliced in as part of episode 50 for the original TV broadcast, which I can neither confirm or deny the validity of these claims, but that just further complicates things.
