I sure do, that would make a nice ending, the town burning up and everyone dying horribly (except Hayami)

this series is kinda sad because the 1st two episodes and these last two episodes have been pretty decent and pretty much what I expected for the series...its just everything in between has been crap.

My thoughts exactly.

NICE BOAT is different from the generic clichés such as main guys always ending up with one of many girls. The reason I like it is because it's way more interesting than a standard, boring happy ending that every other story in existence seems to have.

Aside from the actual topic, I really want to watch whatever show this is that people kept referencing to: "I want a NICE BOAT ending!" School Days, was it?

Hirose blind and going crazy > Hirose not blind and sane

yeah, school days is twisted, it's disturbing enough to confuse you to actually think it's a good anime

If you plan to ever watch romance/drama anime again id advise you not to watch School Days. As you can see by the comments, it leaves a damaging effect to the viewer. One of three things will happen to you. One, you start assuming every romance/drama will have a nice boat ending. Two, you give up entirely on Romance/dramas out of fear that there might be a nice boat ending. Three, you will overcome the "nice boat" ending but will be burdened with dumb asses that where effected by it posting School days references like "I hope theres a nice boat ending in this show" or "I'm getting major school day vibes in this show" in shows that obviously wont have that type of ending (ie. the show is listed as PG-13). If you fall into this last category please join the No More School Days references group .

On one note, him going crazy was a great development, and on the other... so forced.

And I'm getting really sick of all the child/woman beatings in this show. Because that's what I really want to watch.

Hirose's an ass. Who cares what her family did? If people judged others on their family's sins, no one would ever rise above their current living situations. ... but this is more of a Western concept. In Japan, your family is your status in society. It is your responsibility to keep the pride of your family high by getting a good job, and getting married, etc. I'm so happy I live in Canada :)

to me i feel as if his blindness is caused by his mother's suicide. that is why there has been no cure for it. it was as if the only light in his life was taken away, then it was given back to him by otoha and kohinata. then once the part about kohinatas family causing hismother to commit suicide, his light left him once again. now noone believes he actually had the ability to see and now he is going insane thinking that he is really in darkness forever.

tho....it doesn't explain why his drawing and writings were so crappy....

Everything that happened in this episode was a total surprise. But it does make a bit of sense.

Perhaps Hirose thought he could see, or maybe he actually did, but at the same time, everyone else thought he was still blind. That's why no one noticed any difference the day after, and that awkward apology by Hayami. So I think, maybe he could see, but the rest of the world continued to think he was blind. Then after the shock settled in that he beat the crap out of Hayami, he went on seeking shelter in his consious, but because he couldn't accept it, he lost his ability to "see". But because in his mind it had been a sudden transition back to blindness and then basically having to deal with his mother and Hayami, his mind reverted to a state of unstability and he was clumsy, had no sense of direction and went psycho. Well, that's my view on it....

Final thought: WTF?! Someone has to shoot that grandfather!! That reminds me, how did Hirose know exactly where he was standing and how he was pointing the rifle to just stop him from shooting Hayami, or in his mind, his mother? -sigh-

ok 1st off... didn't really get the confusion as said before Hirose could never really see, all the events DID happen just slightly different from what he believed (though i'm not sure if it will remain this way *awaits the return of Otoha*)

2ndly when the shotgun went off and the birds in the wood took flight i jumped up and said OH SHIT THE GRANDPA SHOT HOTARU!!!!! Foolishly thinking that she went to go find Hayami when Hirose went all coo coo for cocoa puffs and jumped in front of the bullet to save Hayami and repent for all the pussiness she (Hotaru) put forth over the last 10 years give or take. That would have made this series a 9 in my book... then again my book does have many many typos...

all i can say is WOW. what a twister - he couldnt see at all throughout!? wow....didnt notice all the clues. tho i did find it a bit weird that he didnt seem like totally over the moon when he could 'see' again in the beginning. i hope he can 'regain' his sight.

Wow, it actually makes sense now. Why nobody questioned Hirose suddenly being able to see again, and perhaps even why they looked for him worried sick in the beach episode, plus at a whole lot of other parts. He was never able to see in the first place, it was all an illusion Otoha gave him. Very nice indeed.

This anime could have been near a masterpiece if played right, but unfortunately i really believe the writers don't give a shit, they're just doing whatever the hell they want. Too bad...

Onto last episode.

Someone please kill Hirose. I cannot stand how he has become a wimp. I was happy for a moment when he stopped the grandfather killing Hayami, thinking he's trying to redeem himself for being a total ass. In the end, he did that only because he thought he is protecting his mother.I'm so disappointed.

I really love Hayami now. The part where she urged Hirose on to hit her, it really showed the love she has for him. It's so sad to see her suffer T_T

I'm really really confused.
I don't know whether to follow this "fairy tale" or Logic.
Logic = The whole thing was an illusion he was never able to see
"Fairy tale" = He could see, but then lost his vision

Ahah, lol.

I agree, this episode was quite confusing and weird
I'm really wondering how the fuck Hirose stopped the old geezer from shooting Hayami.

I know! How's a blind person - who five seconds earlier we saw fall in the mud - end up popping up outta no where and saving the day? The writer's are getting lazy on us...

There's a logical explanation to this...

Hirose's 'sight' only comes to him when he's determined or basically 'believes he can'. He thought his mum was about to be shot, so for a second, his 'eyes' came back to him and he stopped the shooting. That's how I see it.

Hayami should have been more beat up. god I just can't stand Hayami. actually I'm not sure if there's a single likable character in this anime. so this whole time he thought he could see when he still can't? still don't care. Hirose is also extremely whiny and annoying.

Seriously, I should've saw that coming a mile away. Of course it was an illusion, if I only had paid more attention. So the shock value was a little bit higher for me due to the fact that I had not aniticipated it.

Anyways, this episode was pretty nutty, really enjoyed it.
Mee too, though I wandered who come no one was surprised by him regaining his eyesight since the second episode.

This turned out to be a great twist for me.

Hirose is nuts now and that's all that matters lol. If only he had an AK47.

I still think the series/story is pretty so so. This episode was one of the few that where good. The whole town is still f*cken nuts for hating a girl because of what her family did in the past.

BTW. I'm not really sure if it was all an illusion. None of the girls liked Hayami at the start or the series before Hirose could even see, but now they do. Also all the events leading up to him loosing his eyes again really did happen. So I think theres more to the story that we haven't been told yet.

I think the illusion was that he Was able to see. Everything else kind of happened but adjusted to the fact that he was blind.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse... Hirose actually went batshit insane and punched the hell out of Hayami. Then when she's on the verge of death and suddenly regrets it. What a douche, guess that's why he's going back to being blind.

Same goes for that guy who tried to drown Hayami. At least Yui has changed quite a bit and even helped her.

Never thought I'd see adults pointing a rifle at a girl. At this point, I feel like the adults are more childish than kids.
I mainly see the animes... so don't blame me for not knowing about the Manga/LN

Even Takuma has devolved into psychotically maiming Hayami now. I don't think there's any salvation for this village of lunatics. Hope Hayami can somehow survive and move to the city, leaving the rest of the villagers to inevitably kill each other off once their current scapegoat (Hayami) is out of the picture.

Takuma has very keen navigation skills and mobility for someone who's supposedly blind. How did he catch up with the old guy and grab his gun when he was previously tripping over himself in his own house?
