Which anime do you think brought the most shame to its manga original?

I agree: definetly Akira. The anime is not BAD, but there is so much more on the manga.
I could also say Angel Sanctuary, but i don't know if i could even consider that poor, promotional short adaptation an "anime".
And there is KareKano. I like it, in fact. But they could have made a more... "animated" anime! Even if it's an old anime, many scenes were just mere pictures from manga, or almost that. If you're not gonna do it right, don't do it.

Negima's fine. It actually got me interested in the Negima manga, and that's a good thing since many of the flaws I saw in the anime series were answered. The live-action series, ugh, I don't know what to say about that. Fruits Basket was fine too. Funimation did a great job with what they were given, just that it ended in an awkward place and it didn't sound like the author and director were agreeable. Plenty of anime series diverge from the manga storyline.

Disgraceful would be what they did with Ikki Tousen, turning it into a panty fest instead of a potentially interesting retelling. And Ichigo 100%, stripping out most of the backstory on why the girls want to be with the main character. And what the heck did they do with Samurai Girl? Who really wants to see a parallel dimension storyline?

Kurogane No Linebarrels. Take a really neat and cleaver super robot manga and turn it into the most generic thing possible by giving characters amneshia and turning a magnificant bastard of a main character into a spineless delusional wuss who gets INSTA GAR. Just an outright disgrace.

Tsubasa Chronicle - they ruined it by dragging so much and destroying the characters! Only good thing about it is the music

Samurai Deeper Kyo. The anime took totally different storyplot and the humor in the manga which I enjoy the most wasn't kept in the anime adaptation.

Pff, there're so many...
One of them is definetly Full Moon Wo Sagashite, I stoped watchin' it after a couple of episodes, I felt bad fot the manga. Shugo Chara! has also an awful 'adaptation', Special A was bad too.
[I don't even want to watch Fruits Basket, my friend told me about it and gosh...!]

Angel Sanctuary. I didn't like the manga either, but the anime was a compete disaster. The only reason why I ever watch anime is because some scenes are better when animated, so what's the deal with scenes that consist of two sparkling portraits looking at each other?! Or even worse, pictures that don't move at all.

It's disgraceful that a potentially decent shonen/sports anime had to be filled with sexual situations and language so that it wouldn't be a grind like Initial D or MAR. About the only thing that saves it is the ADV dub featuring Chris Patton and Luci Christian.

Kare Kano had the biggest shark jump I've seen in a while. I can't say if the manga is way better considering how the anime was on pace of being something great, but then the director quit the show and the company.
