Title says it all...

My mom loves Fruits Basket, and is a big fan of Spice and Wolf as well...

I think there's potential for her to like Toradora...she thinks Taiga is unbelievably cute...

As I said in another post, my mom is interested in Ghost in the Shell. I don't think she'll like it though, since it's heavy on dialogue.

My parents don't like anime. I'm thinking of introducing them to a couple of series but they're kinda close minded when it comes to anime/manga.

My parents aren't the slightest bit interested in watching anime. Any time I watch anime when my parents are around all they say is something like: "Is that Goku?" "Haven't you watched Dragon Balls enough before?"
It doesn't matter what show it is either. -_-;

Parents would LOVE Ghibli films, and my mom does. She also liked Satoshi Kon's Millennium Actress. Plus, she knows a lot about Pokemon, since she has two generations of children who watch it. My dad doesn't watch anime :(

My dad really liked DBZ and Princess Mononoke. I know there are others that he liked, just can't think of the names.

I'm actually trying to get him to watch some newer series, but he's been busy with work. Poor old fart.

My dad watched Akira when it first came out in the UK but he's not a anime fan. I think he has watched some Miyazaki films and thought they were good.

In general though my parents just don't understand what's going on and find it 'bizarre'

I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps you should let them know that Pixar/Disney is the devil.

My mother loves Umineko no Naku Koro ni... and she looks like Ushiromiya Kyrie, so she decided to buy her cosplay >w<!!

(I asked for a Beato cosplay and she agreeded, YAY 8D)

On the other hand, my father don't really like anime, but loves japanese culture... maybe he didn't find 'his anime'. I'll probably try with TTGL, he might like it x3

My parents like Miyazaki movies. My dad also likes Cowboy Bebop, but he's barely seen any of it. (I keep telling him he should actually watch it the whole way through he's like "yeah, I probably should".)

My dad thinks all anime is complete and utter rubbish, besides Miyazaki directed movies.

My mom absolutely hates Naruto because he yells to much (in the dub) and it annoys her xD
But she doesn't mind Totoro.

My mom does not hate anime but she does not like it either.

my dad though, he only likes action-based anime. He likes Outlaw Star, the Gundam series, Dragon Ball Z, and a couple more.

of course, he does not know the difference between cartoons and anime. its all the same to him. they are all cartoons.

Not sure, since I haven't tried showing them anything. Doubt they'd be interested.

I did show my uncle and my cousin Ghost in the Shell (the movie) years ago, though, and now my cousin is studying to become an animator.

Some people are lucky that their parents are prepared to accept anime. My mother still asks me when I am going to leave my "fantasy world" behind, and I sometimes get 'the look' when she finds me watching anime yet again. My father does not have the time -- yet I can't forget the time I was watching thr J-Drama Hana Kimi, and he squinted at the screen asking, "is that a girl?" It was Nakatsu. Who isn't even the most feminine looking. I shudder to think what he would say if he saw some bishonen anime characters. Really, I know already that he wouldn't like anime. Even the more serious films like Ghost in the Shell, or a production by Satoshi Kon.

My parents think they're stupid.

but lately my mom have been hearing good things about them. She's been hearing people talking about crying to Spirited Away and Castle in The Sky.

I think I can easily reel her into our circle... but I decided that she should stick to what she's comfortable off... downloading anime and MAL is too much for her... she only learn about facebook recently, and every little things on the internet entertained her... like a new comment or short words like LOL, WTF, and w8.

My stepdad got me hooked on anime when I was young, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Tank Police, Ghost in the Shell, and Vampire Hunter D were some of my first anime movies.

My mom liked the studio Ghibli movies and she pretty much has the entire pokemon collection available on VHS partly for my little brothers (at the time) and for herself.

My dad...ugh...probably violent animes. D: (none of which I watch)

If my dad watched anime, he'd like Samurai Champloo or Gurren Lagann (he loves comedy).
If my mom watched anime she'd prolly go googoogaga over Clannad Afterstory.

But they don't. T_T

My dad would rather die than watch anime; he thinks it's gay.
He can't talk. I heard him around the house the other day singing Beyonce.

My dad likes Ghibli more than I do and he keeps asking me when a next one will come out. My mum on the other hand, doesn't want to know anything about it. She thought I was a lesbian when I watched Marimite in the other room, and her face was struck in a state of horror during a Lain marathon in the living room. Which was quite funny, actually.

My dad has seen a few Miyazaki movies, he liked Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke if I remember it correct. He also seemed interested in Full Metal Alchemist, but not enough to watch it. He only watches movies, so I guess I should get him interested in a few. He only likes dubs though, that's a shame.

My mom kinda hates anime, especially when I used to watch Pokemon when I was 9 or something xD But she thought Howl's Moving Castle actually had an interesting storyline, so maybe she'll watch it with me once, 'cause I own it on DVD : D

My mother likes Kimba the White Lion. Also, when I was in sixth grade and she had the day off from work, I caught her watching Digimon. She tried to get me to watch it as well; I refused. She doesn't have any interest in anime otherwise, but I'm sure she'd watch most Ghibli stuff.

My stepdad was really into anime when he was younger, especially Akira, Bubblegum Crisis, Robotech (okay, so it's not an anime series itself so much as 3 series edited and combined to make one), and various mecha series. We also watched Tenchi Universe and Slayers Next together.

My grandmother (who is close to 70) actually expressed interest in watching Infinite Ryvius with me once. Heh.

Back when anime still showed on the sci-fi channel, I used to watch Blue Gender, Evangelion and Nadesico with my dad.
He found Nadeciso awfully boring and would tend to fall asleep during it, but enjoyed the other two.

My mum has watched Whisper of the Heart with me before and seemed to like it, but I'm not sure what else I could recommend. She just much prefers shows and movies with actual people in :P

very interesting topic. I've only recently made the jump into actually buying anime DVDs'. I've talked a bit about some of it with my parents. They really don't strike me as the anime / fantasy type, but I intend to keep working on them. I've even caught my dad watching american cartoons a few times so I should be able to get him into anime. Although the whole episodic continuation of stories may be a little much for him :(
