| wow, that 90's joke they brought was probably the best part out of this god-forsaken episode. omg i was about to puke!! and seriously, he's cut so much of his life, he's probably gonna die naturally before he even reaches full adulthood. Somebody said: The reused dancing was a tad annoying but otherwise good episode. Ivankov is pretty closed to how I imagined he would sound. Also, i knew somthing didnt feel rite when i was watching this part. |

| you guys are all caught up in the dancing whereas i was just going OMG TEN MORE YEARS OFF LUFFY'S LIFE i was already nervous with his frequent use of gear second seriously this must be the most painful thing luffy's gone through yet, which is no small feat i feel so sorry for him, he's truly amazing also that moment with him and ace as children was beautiful. i want to see more of that. |

| how can you not love Iva??? his powers are super super amazing, healing people, killing people, genderbending people~ but the worst part of this episode was hearing luffy's screams :( if it's gonna take two days more to heal him, he won't be able to save Ace in time... |

| The whole beginning of this episode is definitely one of the stranger things I have seen in One Piece. The character art and the dancing stage show sex change thing were pretty bizarre. |

| To all those who thought Zoro always got the short end of the stick or that Luffy's rubber body made him too invulnerable to pain, now Luffy's getting a taste. A scary thought hit me this episode. Ivan told Luffy this procedure would take off 10 years of his life. We've heard before that gears are killing Luffy and probably doing the same thing, cutting time off his life. I think this is setting us up so that Luffy will die young similar to how Gol D Roger became the king of pirates while terminally ill and turned himself in. Perhaps Luffy will accomplish everything he wants to and end his journey on the brink of his life only to turn himself in too... Either way I'm worried it's foreshadowing a similar fate for Luffy as Roger had! We've seen Luffy's ability to accept his fate before, he was able to smile in a guillotine and has always said "everyone dies sometime" as an excuse to always do what he wanted to unafraid of death. Further, we've seen how he'll not stop until he does the impossible when it comes to helping his friends, whether it’s fighting Arlong, initiating war against the world government, or smashing his head on his cell door to save Ace. Until the moment he's out he will fight for his nakama, it's one of the few times Shanks taught him to be serious. Death, is just a part of life so why worry about it. But when your nakama are in trouble that's when you don't have fun anymore. Despite all of that, seeing Luffy in immeasurable pain, grunting, nearly blind, gasping paired with Mayumi Tanaka's amazing voice acting which always accentuates these moments perfectly it was like the first time seeing it all over again. The intensity in his gaze as he didn't care for his life first but begged them to save Bon Chan was so powerful. Even if he makes it out I'm worried he will be alive but lacking strength and still needing to recover, he'll be so weak.. how will he save Ace like that? So, Ivan says miracles are really humans ability to strive against their own mortality, to fight against the impossible. Miracles only happen to people who don't give up. And we know Luffy tries to do the impossible daily and refuses to stop until he saves Ace so... this should be painful but easy in a way. Even outside of the meta fact that he's the main character I would have faith in Luffy here. In fact, if Luffy can't do it no one can. I'm unsure on Ivan's power but it seems he's enhanced Luffy's ability to fight off the poison but equally sped up the poison or something. I wonder what his ability is, that wink was also shocking. Yeah yeah, this was fillery. The reuse of the dance footage was hilariously lazy. But we got some great stuff out of it, especially those cute memories of Ace and Luffy as kids! P.S. the new Kama's getting over the 'border' of gender is interesting and goes deeper than most okama discussion in One Piece thus far. |
| Iva reminds me of Frank N. Furter from Rocky's Horror Picture Show! Oda is definitely ahead of his time considering that this was premiered in 20120! And it wasn't until recently that gender identity was a topic of discussion. Especially considering (from what I've heard) that Japanese culture isn't very accepting of homosexuality. |

If Bon Clay's intimidated by the overwhelmingly extravagant flamboyance of everyone down at New Kama Land, I'd say that this is one of the scarier parts of Impel Down. At least Ivankov turned that guy into a hot woman when he was injected with them hormones. Luffy's suffering like never before but that's the only way he can overcome Magellan's poison. If you add all of the life force he has expended using Gear 2nd to the 10 years worth of life he'd lose if he ever manages to survive that treatment, it already sounds like his lifespan's gonna be way too short at this rate... |

| Funny first half! People need to remember this is a Japanese TV Show so don’t be surprised if things get weird lmao. Poor Luffy though :/ Big ups to Ivan-san for dropping the best quotable I’ve seen in One Piece for a while: “Miracles only happen to people who don’t give up!” |
| That genderbending scene gave me a new fetish, hot damn that was sexy as hell. People are overreacting to Luffy losing lifespan. Remember, 10 years is an estimate, it could be as little as 1 year because of Luffy's tremendous vitality. Luffy won't die unless Oda wants him to die. And Oda doesn't need the excuse of Luffy getting poisoned by Magellan. I think the "10 years off your life" is great as a way of showing how Magellan isn't anyone to mess with, though. Nice of the fast-acting neurotoxin to take 24 hours to kill you though ;) |
