So that she can handle him when he's upset but can also be kind and sweet to him when he's being normal. And be nice to him when he needs a hug. Which he seriously does. ^_^ Unfortunately I don't think such a girl exists in Naruto at this time. Poor Gaara.

Sakura is just the type for him. She knows how to be cool as water on normal occasions and as hard as ice in battles. ^^^luv sakura & gaara 4 ever^^^

From what I've seen, he always gets paired with Hinata, Sakura or Ino.
Thing is, I don't even like Sakura so I didn't think much about it until I ended up reading a friend's fanfic about them, but I don't see how they could even like each other - plus, some kinda ass-pull is needed to get a Konoha girl in Suna in the first place. Same problem with Hinata and Ino, with the added complication that neither of them even know Gaara, Hinata is still head over hills for Naruto (who ignored her confession, dammit) and Ino is a pretty minor character so I can't even imagine writing a love story about her without filling in a bunch of made up personality traits. Then there's Matsuri, but the option isn't even funny.
Personally, I like the idea of GaaraXOC, but I've only known two good, non sue-ish fics and can't really bring myself to write an OC myself. So I stick with GaaraXNaruto. -_-"
