Darkreaper70 said: Actually, all things considered, the letter was obvious, chibi-Fumika's reaction wasn't.Quite a good episode. I also thought it was Fumika when she was younger. It's a heartwarming episode but I expected the letter to be different. Didn't think it would be a drawing. The next episode should be good. Fumi-chan's awake. |

Shigofumi just got 9'd. Great non-angsty episode. Hope they keep it up. Talon said: had to cry a little at the end of this episode.... Modified by kasumisama, 03-13-08, 5:07 PM |

Probably the best episode I watched in 2008. Absolutely brilliant, deep, powerful, moving, well directed and written. It has pretty much everything I hope for an anime episode, and even much more. Well, I'm a big Sato Tatsuo fan so I may be biased ;) |

I thought that was a really lovely episode. I liked the short trip away from the mail carriers and back to the people who received it too. It was sweet and poignant and the little girl was cute. I liked the little circle they made with the bird and the guy in the episode too. And then wham! Fumika's eyes open. I can't wait to see what happens next! |

I'm a bit lost as to why the guy was arrested, did the kid's mother report her as being kidnapped or was some other girl they mistook her for? |

The police saw a man with a child who doesn't seem to be related to him in any ways (no shouting of papa, mama, uncle..) and they instantly assume the worst that he is a desperate child kidnapper. Plus there was a very recent report of a missing child case. Can't fully blame the police though.. Modified by Nayah, 03-14-08, 2:04 AM |

Wow T__T Great episode, tear jerking...chibi Fumika was adorable. Her reaction at the funeral set me off, so innocent. Looking forward to this week's episode, Fumi-chan awakens... It doesn't look like a good thing according to the preview xS |

First, I just want to say are the police in Japan insensitive morons or something? First was the police officer who arrested the guy. Yeah, because the first thing that comes to mind when I find a guy being beaten up by punks with a little kid is that this guy is a child molester. Even if there had been a recent report of a child kidnapping shouldn't the cop have made a positive ID that the child with him matched the description of the missing child and questioned the two of them instead of immediately pouncing on the guy. It's not like Lil' Fumika was in any apparent danger or Takehiko was about to grab her and run away from the cop. WTF Japan? Then there was the cop at the station. Get a job so you don't do something desperate like kidnap children again? First of all, where is your proof he was kidnapping any kids in the first place, and second you call his former place of employment and not his house, his mother, or, the most obvious choice, the girl's mother to verify his story. Again, are police in this country morons? Is it just illegal to sue the police for libel or something 'cause otherwise that was a really stupid thing for the cop to say. Way to kick a guy when he's already down. Didn't like this episode all that much. Too much of it felt contrived to make this the worst day of this guy's life or something. First the cops, and also Takehiko's decision not to tell anyone about his disease. I'll grant he was depressed, but so much of the crap he suffered from his mom, his coworker, and the interrogator could've been avoided if he'd said look guys I have a terminal illness. Maybe there's some cultural disconnect I'm not getting but either way all it did was to annoy me. |

Way to kick a guy when he's already down. That's exactly how I felt, the police just did one screwed up thing after the other. First they handcuff a guy who's just been kicked over and over without even checking if he had any injuries, based solely on the fact that he was with a little girl. Then they leave the aleged kidnapped girl who's barely four unsupervisioned on the lobby, make apparently no attempt to question her about anything, and after confirming that the guy used to have a job (I have no idea why is that relevant to the case in the first place) and scolding him for being unemployed and kidnapping little girls, let him out with the kid without ever getting to speak with her mother. I mean, I'vee heard things about the Japanese police, but if it really is anything like this... |

It's a case of difference between societies here. That said, they did make an apparent screw-up with leaving lil' Fumika unsupervised. |

Although it was a pretty good storyline, it just felt a bit out of place since it didn't really focus on Fumika as much. The only saving grace for me was the end, I can't wait till the next episode |

Really great episode, possibly my favorite up to now. After a bit of a narrative slump in episodes 8 and 9, this brings things back on track. I just hope the quality holds for the remaining 2 episodes. |

I too thought this was an ep about Fumika's past. When we saw the real Fumika giving the letter to the police women I thought maybe this was where we would learn how Fumika became a Shigofumi delivery person. O well, still was a good episode. |

>_< got cheated again for the first half, i did suspected since chibi fumika was too lively. hope there were more epi like this. yay fumi-chan's awake but i can't really expect much from the next after watching that kirameki's arc in previous epi. hope i'm wrong, again edit: Miss_Golightly said: Gah, back on track with the tear-jerking. Nice episode, but appendix cancer? Remove it! If his cancer hadn't metastisized (meaning spread throughout the rest of the body) it shouldn't be a problem. The human body doesn't need an appendix unless this is an Eastern thought that it is a necessity? Western medical society still don't know the purpose of the organ. What an ironic turn of events though. Here the lil' Fumika stopped him from commiting suicide and then he gets run over by a truck. I know that water was looking awfully tempting to him before she popped into the light. Fumika awakes?!!?!! Had to happen eventually. Yeah, pins and needles time. actually, at the funeral the woman said '末期'='makki'='final stage'. probably they can't remove the cancer T_T Modified by id, 03-15-08, 10:28 PM |

damn what a great episode. At first I didn't think the uncle had cancer; I thought it might have been his girlfriend or something which is why he is depressed and isin't married, but it was sad when it was revealed that he had the cancer. |

Again, are police in this country morons? Is it just illegal to sue the police for libel or something 'cause otherwise that was a really stupid thing for the cop to say. Way to kick a guy when he's already down. If I recall correctly from the class I took in college, it is of very high importance to fit into societies norms. You must do best for the society and keep up your image. Having a job is on that list as well as getting married and having children. It is like a civic duty to maintain the honor and respect of your family. Any deviation from that is seen as an abnormality and will not be looked on too highly. They guy was unmarried, 30 years old, and worked for a game company. The only thing that was saving him was that he had a job. When he quit he lost that security blanket and society came down on him. To the cop that's the first signs of trouble. He probably assumed that he was a pedo watching otaku that gone too far. I think this is an extreme case and cannot be applied to all real world situations but there is likely some truth in the whole incident that mimics reality. I do agree that the whole situation was approached terribly. I too was duped by the Fumi Fumi switch. The creators love to mess with our heads. I almost shed a tear at the end. For the appendix cancer I wondered also why they couldn't just cut the thing out too. But it looks like that it's hard to detect initially and it's rare. Survival rates aren't that good but that was taken from over decades of cases. Later cases seem to have more survival rate than in the past. He should have had a second opinion and seen a specialist before giving up. :( Several people I know had cancer. None of them gave up. Some made it and some didn't. In a way I guess I'm glad he didn't have to suffer long but at the same time I wanted to see him fight. Oh yes...and she's up. |
