Seems like it's going to be based off the manga since it's being bundled with Volume 5 and is with new aka manga character designs. Good, it makes more sense to base this off the manga since it's the most popular version of Kure-nai by far. Much more fun than the tv series as well sans the singing episode.

If it's only available bundled with a manga volume than it's obviously aimed at manga fans only, see Negima and Tsubasa Chronicles OVAs. It should be a fun standalone episosde though so I wouldn't be worried too much and manga character designs >>>>>>>>> anime.
