Yes. but Tomino only did the first half of the series from what I've read, or was the second part? I don't remember anymore.

Now that you mention it I'm not even sure if he directed that one actually, but I do think he helped it out along the way or something. Or maybe I'm just confused, lol.

I believe he directed the first 26 episodes then was replaced by Nagahama (Combattler, Voltes, Daimos). From what I've heard this show was one of the reasons Tomino took such a dislike to mecha show conventions due to the pressure put on him by the toy companies. They wanted dramatic posing, he wanted a good story.

Can't wait to start Zillion! Looks like one of Production IG's earliest shows, maybe even their first?

Heard it was pretty episodic (from you Rob I think?), nonetheless it looks fun.

Yep, so far (ep 20), it doesn't really have a continuity, it's the good "old school" special three teens team versus alien invaders thing, not much depth in the story too, but the animation and the likeable characters makes for it. The opening like I've said before, is really good and catchy.

Oh yeah, I downloaded the first episode of Hana no Ko Lunlun the other day and it was on french audio and romanian subs, so I'll take it out of the list.

That's too bad, the info on anidb is wrong. I have been wanting to watch this one for some time now. and I'll still have to wait.

Sadly it looks like mscience can no longer give us episodes of Daitarn 3, though he says he'll be releasing a rar set of the sub files separately for 24-40.

I imagine some people from mSubs might be willing to pick this up and finish it.

Also, someone is releasing Yamato first series remastered.I have to download this one. Has anyone watched this one yet?

New "Old" series added to the ongoing list.
Hime-chan no Ribbon By the same guys that are doing Goldfish Warning, #honobono.

I'll put Daitarn on the stalled list for now and see how it develops.

I'm definitely okay with the subs by themselves and raws can be found to use them with, but yeah.

Out of the unfinished fully subbed Tomino shows it's probably the one I'm most interested in currently next to L-Gaim. Which, Shin-Getter is still not having luck with their site... :(

And Great Mazinger back on track too. I'd like to resume that one after watching the first Mazinger series, even though I know it doesn't really contains spoilers.

Starseeker, do you know if the rest of the people at /m/ is considering giving the original Mazinger a proper sub?

We have been asked at /m/subs, but it's usally ruled out for the same reason as the original Kamen Rider, logistics. Mazinger Z is 92 episodes of MoTW and no-one particularly wants to do it. It's regarded as mostly understandable without subs mainly. Also I'm not sure if we have raws. Great Mazinger was done because we came into possession of 40 episodes worth of what I believe are timed scripts and someone owns the DVDs. I just work as encoder for Great Mazinger, translatation is sasword's area. Apparently there may be a new Getter episode soonish.

If you really want Mazinger, the manga's got 4 volumes out of 5 done by Dynamic Pro scans (I'm primary translator on that, with a mate to TL check)

In other news, xnebula has release episode 5 of Panzer World Galient.

I do agree.
Those kind of mecha shows of the seventies doesn't really need a proper translation to one figure out what's happening around.
I have watched some 10 episodes of the HK rips that are available online which even to my non fluent Japanese ears are way off in the translation, but I guess that I'll keep up with those then.

Doing the WHOLE series would be a very hard task. But then again, you'd be credited as the one and only to have given the original Mazinger a proper sub. Well, not really a fulfilling trophy though. :P

Yep, I have beeen laying an eye on Dynamic Pro Scans too. Cheers for that.

*Galient was mentioned on a post above. Are you Starseeker, involved on that one as well?

Nope, xnebula, aka Dougram Dude to /m/, is pretty much a solo project and I respect him for that.
My projects are Raideen, Layzner and the Mazinger manga.

I agree that Mazinger Z probably isn't anything to ever worry about. If anything, perhaps someday a nice DVDrip release with an "HKfix" would be cool, but oh well.

I think the HK from Mazinger Z are unfixable. They're legendarily bad, hell on /m/ it gave the term for really bad subs "crabstick" after Dr Hell's staff of Bardos got referred to as a crabstick.

Only now did I discovered that a classic from my childhood was being fansubbed. It is a shoujo and a very good one from what I remember.

I'm talking about Lady Georgie It is being fansubbed by Night Vision and they're at the 14th episode. The releases seems a little slow, but it's better than nothing.

Hmmm, so "L-Gaim Bad" then? lols.

@Rob: The name mistakes seem to be pretty prominent in HK's it seems... that's what really annoyed me while watching Dragonar, though overall the HK's just got worse and worse it seemed so I put it on hold for now.

I don't jhave much experience in watching HK rips, I know that I watched some before, but I don't remember which series it was.
But one thing's for sure, Mazinger subs can't get worse than this as well as everything in the "HK subbing world", Most of the time I find myself ignoring the subs and trying to figure out what they're saying through my little understanding of the language.

Having seen the L-Gaim HK subs, all I can say is they were very variable, it looked like they had 2 or 3 translators on it, the one who liked thesauruses, the good one (as in, it covered the basic gist of the sentences), and the shite one. Guess which one did the last few eps.

Reminds me, need to chase up the guy who was interested in helping us finish L-Gaim and the dude with the raws.

Good thing I never downloaded thos L-Gaim rips. For my luck the folks at Shin-getter resumed it, but they do seem to be experiencing troubles these last months.

Anyways, good news to the old school fansubbing world, GP released the 3rd Daimos episode.

It's cool to see this new episode, I can surely see a lot of potential on the first two former episodes, + the characters are likeable too. Hope they can keep it up.

Hmm when i went to check on Anidb I saw that a fansub was ahead on Daimos, HAnoki, but I never heard of them. Has anyone watched their work or know something about them?

I believe the official word on the Shin-Getter site is that L-Gaim is dropped, hence why my group is discussing picking it up.

That Daimos fansub may be the one on Youtube based off the Philippine English dub. Having seen some of the dub I can say it's cheesy as hell and the acting is dodgy. Fun to watch though.

Oh okay.

Their translation seems fine, but there are some simple sentences here and there that doesn't feel accurate to me.

It's pretty cool because Aznanime never got to conclude the series into English translation and this Tomodachi files have some very good video quality. I still hope they end the series.

Though I don't believe it'll call new fans to the saint seiya universe at this late year, but it'll be a nice gift to the old fans like myself.
