dont't watch that anime if you are going to give it 1* and cry 10000 words in review about it.
10 (Masterpiece) - My favorite shows. The kind of stuff I would pay for the $500 blu ray release, if I actually had $500 to spend (Examples: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gunbuster, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)
9 (Super Frickin' Awesome) - Stuff that was almost as awesome as a 10, but not quite there. I generally use this when the anime was great, but the manga/Source material was better or when there was a couple minor flaws that made me not enjoy the show as much.(Example: Trigun)
8 (Awesome) - Something I enjoyed, but wasn't quite "perfect".
7 (Great) - Something I enjoyed, but wouldn't recommend unless asked by someone if I liked it. Generally shows that were bad in terms of plot and characters, but I still enjoyed anyways. I might buy the blu ray/dvd if It's not rediculously overpriced.
6 (Good) - Something I liked, but wouldn't suggest to someone else. I might buy the blu ray/dvd if it's cheap. Usually these are fanservice titles.
5 (OK) - Something that held my interest, but wasn't really worth my time. I usually don't rate below this because i drop the title if it's lower than this.
4 (Bad) - Something I disliked. This means it either slightly bored me, or pissed me off.
3 (Really Bad) - Basically a little bit worse than a 4, but not quite a 2.
2 (Horrible) - Something god awful. Crap like mars of destruction and skelter heaven.
1 (Disgusting) - Title says it all. Stuff that made me want to vomit.

10. Fantastic , the best to me.
9. Very good, among the best series.
8. Really good, or enjoyable
7. Above average, I usually rate most series a 7-8
6. Average, not too interesting
5. Average to below average
4. Below average, not too interesting
3. Not too intersting
2. Awful or too boring.
1. Usually reserved for the Big 3 anime series like Naruto.
10 - Freaking Awesome!!!! I would encourage anyone to watch this. I loved it. It was something special for me. Every single aspect: Story, character, art/animation and sound(for anime only) was amazing, but not necessarily perfect, just not bad/annoying or mediocre at all.
9 - Incredible! Maybe a few tiny flaws. Not up to the level as a 10 rated series., because of these tiny flaws, but still a superb experience.
8 - A really great anime/manga that I personally enjoyed in the end, but it still had some small flaws I couldn't over look. It fulfills almost all my expectations.
----------------------------I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYTHING RATED ABOVE THIS LINE ---------------------------
7 - Generally a good anime/manga. Average to above average. It didn't have the wow factor(s) I was looking for. The good parts surpass the bland/mediocre parts. Definetely worth giving a try, and i would recommend many of them, with some notes.
6 - Not bad, but also not too remarkable. Average to a little bit below average. Many 'not too good' parts. I liked it to a certain degree. Anyway, still worth giving a try, but i would not recommend it as much as a I would a 7.
5 - Just a time-killer. Very mediocre in every aspect really. Nothing special about it. Barely watchable/readable. It's your choice if you want to watch/read anything given a 5.
4 to 1 - Just don't waste your time on this. Seriously. Either i didin't enjoyed it or it was bad. I watched it just to say' oh yeah, i saw it' . These scores represent different leves of dislike ( not necessarily hate, but definetely dislike). And of course, no recommendations here.
Unrated - I'm currently watching/reading it or it's been a while since i last watched/read it, and i can't give it a thoughtful score.
Unrated
Well, whatever i already said.
1/10
There is not a single anime/manga that I can even comprehend that deserves a rating of 1/10. I don't believe that I will ever give this rating, and I truly doubt my ability to sit through an actual 1/10 anime/manga through to the end without dropping it. Ultimately, I have, and will always have, better things to do with my time.
2/10
Whatever gets this rating from me can just fuck off. It does not deserve to exist on this planet of reality along with the rest of humanity and should never have taken shape here. It should have been left to die with whatever chromosome- deficient pile of redundancy conceived of it. That is all.
3/10
The anime/manga that receives this mark of failure from me is largely devoid of anything remotely good. Not only that, but what exists in place of 'good viewing material' is something painful, depressingly pointless or horrendously executed. This really should be the lowest rating I give. Anything less than that should, plain and simple, never have been there for people to watch/read.
4/10
MAYBE, there is something here. MAYBE there is something good. But it exists purely in the 'potential' stages; as in, it just did not come to fruition as it should or could have. A 4/10 anime/manga is something that, whether it be due to my own personal enjoyment or an objective issue with the show in question, is just not worth the time. Yes there may be some good art, yes there may be some interesting characters, yes the initial concept may be interesting, but I can't imagine all of the above possibilities to encompass the show I have rated 4/10. It usually only has one or two of these things going for it, and it ultimately just doesn't assist the show's likability in any way. Overall, a 4/10 anime/manga is a show that had somewhere to be, or something that it wanted to be, but just couldn't really get there. Almost to be considered decent, but didin't reach that point.
5/10
A 5/10 anime/manga is a show that excels at two or more of the aspects mentioned above in the 4/10 rating description. This, like the 4/10, fails more than it succeeds, and sometimes the succeeded parts are almost equal to the failed parts. And it's unfortunately just not a very enjoyable experience overall, but i can't say "it was bad and i want to forget it". Not quite so much a 'horrible' anime/manga, but definitely easy to drop. Watch/read it only if you are extremely bored. 5/10 is anything that is better than a 4/10 show, but not way better.
6/10
Now, this is a rating that I seem to give quite often. This is a rating that I give to a show that really should have been good, but just wasn't in the end. The positives are either many, or the positives that do exist are prominently so, but it just falls short of being 'good'. This is almost an average show, that usually fails (for me, anyway) because the story is either largely pointless or the viewing experience is one of boredom and lack of engagement. It can even sometimes be a little annoying or painful to get through by the end. Ultimately, it's not crap and it's not good, just 'eh'. If I'm in the right mood though, I can definitely speak very ill of a 6/10 anime/manga for just being a boring, pointless piece of old shite. Not a bad anime/manga, not bad at all, and worth giving a chance, but you should lower your expectations.
7/10
Now, this is something that either i didn't enjoyed it as much as an 8 or 9 rated series, or it's overall quality wasn't that great . It can have some of the issues present in a 6/10 anime, just a little less profoundly so, but a 7/10 is overall a good experience. Yes, there are visible faults but there are definitely positives that make the negatives overlook-able; as I said, to what extent this is based on my personal enoyment and taste can vary. To sum up, 7/10 is better than 6 and worth giving a try, and sometimes almost equal to an 8/10, but it misses something and for this reason, i can't give it an 8/10.
8/10
An 8/10 is very much an anime/manga I enjoy to watch/read. The negatives are few and far between, it's engaging to watch/read and it's something I can lose myself in (if it suits my tastes well enough) and really appreciate. This is the kind of anime/manga I would like to watch/read more often.
9/10
A 9/10 anime/manga was very enjoyable, and possesses a very small number of negatives (almost not noticeable). Generally speaking, negatives I notice in a 9/10 anime/manga are negatives that I largely couldn't care less about. A 9/10 show is just really bloody good, and something I can definitely lose myself in and appreciate for years to come. Really great.
10/10
A 10 rating for me means that I thoroughly enjoyed the watching/reading experience. There were zero to almost zero negative aspects to this, and if there were negatives, they did not detract from the experience whatsoever. A 10/10 anime/manga is something that I can re-watch/read over and over again that still provides the excitement present from the first viewing. Only a select few shows reach this level with me. Everything i give a 10/10, does not mean that is perfect, or way better in every aspect from something rated 9 or even 8, but still it's the top of the top
In my opinion:
1- Doesn't exist in my vocabulary, every series have its good points and bad points.
2- Doesn't exist
3- Doesn't exist
4- I don't know what the hell is going on (dropped the series)
5- average... ( dropped the series)
6- good and interesting ( can probably go in my on-hold list or dropped series)
7- interesting... Enjoyable series...
8- a very good series... Memorable characters and the plot is interesting
9- A magnificent series...
10- Doesn't exist. Nothing is perfect.
Malarkey said: I dont wanna hear none of that from someone who gave Naruto a 10 and Princess Mononoke a 6
Malarkey said: your rating system doesnt really make much sense considering 10 doesnt necessarily mean perfect and that therere thousands of 1s and 2s out there
Well it is purely based on my opinion: nothing is trash and nothing is perfect
If I'm going to define what "trash" is, I cannot give a define and tenacious answer, the same with what is a "perfect" series. Although what I can say is that I watch what I want, and enjoy what I enjoy, and all series that I have watched are the series that I enjoy.
10 - THIS IS SO AWESOME. I could watch this forever. Best anime ever. Everything is near perfect (Since no anime is perfect)
9 - AMAZING NEAR EXCELLENCE! This is near the best but maybe some episodes are not that good to make it a ten.
8 - WOW! COOL! This is the score where it is amazing and would still recommend it to a friend but not as awesome as 9 and 10. Maybe I feel there is a lack of episode, too fast storyline, there are undeveloped character or the ending is not that great
7 - GREAT! I like it but not so much. There are episodes that makes me bored. There are certain aspects that could be improved. But at least its above average in my standards but will hesitate a little when recommending it to a friend (I will give warning like some episodes may be boring or too much to bear)
6 - OK! just ok. This is near my middle point like well it is a pretty fun anime at little above average, I guess I enjoy it a little.
5 - MEH! Just another anime with repetitive happenings and a lot of cliche.
4 - NO THANKS! This anime is getting in my nerves but I just finish it hoping it will get better P.S It did not!
3,2,1 - DROPPED! Why would I waste my time watching something I dont even like?

Well, then it's a good thing the description for 10 on MAL is Masterpiece. Why would you have a rating that you can never use? What's the point?
10-I really enjoyed it and it kept me thinking about it after I watched it. It also got me hyped and I found myself standing in some scenes
9-Same as 10 although to a lower degree
8-same as 9 although to a slightly lower degree
7-I found a big chunk (50% or so) of the anime as boring
6-it was boring for the most part and watching episodes felt like a drag
5-I finished it for what it's worth or they ruined it and I almost dropped it at one point
4-1 - Dropped I have not updated my drop list lol. that's like only.... idk, 1% of the shows that I dropped cos I may drop an anime within minutes lol

3 - WHAT THE FUCK? DROPPED

1 -
i only give 10s though as i only care to remember what found a special place in my heart :3
My scores aren't perfectly consistent with eachother, but
10 - A favorite or highly enjoyed show.
9 - Highly enjoyed show, but doesn't quite make it to 10
8 - Good/Great show
7 - Good/Great show, but with less "hooked" feeling that an 8'er
6 - Average
5 (and below) - Shows I have hard time enjoying or finishing, or too generic
1 - Something that must be horrible to deserve a 1.
My go-to rating is a 7 or 8 on almost all the shows, and then sometimes I go through my list and see if I need to be more stricter to my system. (Which I'm not good at...)

Lol... You do have a point... It's just that I showed how I followed it when I started in MAL, years back, and when I started watching anime...
I don't use it now due to the fact that my means score will be 8.00 or higher because of the fact that I'm not a masochist.
