I am usually dropping series if I don't like maximum the 6 episodes of it(believe me,if there is a good show for me it gets me from the first episode) but it happened to drop series like Tokyo Ghoul or Mirai Nikki and I hope this doesn't mean that I should be ashamed even if they are popular...

What do you guys think?

Just because a show is popular doesn't mean it's good. Why should you be ashamed?

No
Drop whatever you want
If it doesn't appeal to you and you don't want to keep watching, don't keep watching.
I dropped Hellsing Ultimate(which has a very high score on this site) cause the first episode was fucking shit.
You shouldn't feel ashamed of dropping Tokyo Ghoul cause it's shit anyways.
every single one of my forum posts is dumb and invalid except for 1, I don't claim them it was a different person it was all fake

You should be ashamed for dropping anime that early!!! It's not like I haven't dropped anime before the first episode ended....

I mean what kind of question is it really? Does someone need to feel ashamed if they don't like drinking tea because a lot of others do?

It's not that surprising. Tokyo Ghoul starts really strong, then goes downhill extremely fast. It's hard not to feel disappointed. And Mirai Nikki is just a terrible show all-around.

Picking anime based on popularity is one way to go about it, sure, but probably not the best. For me, at least.

Don't be ashamed. Everyone has preferences and so do you. Even if it's popular shit or something doesn't mean you'll be able to enjoy it. Just watch what you think is for you and the one that can satisfy you.

But if you don't want to be roasted in the internet, don't bother saying it in their face that you don't like this or that anime and you drop it. It'll save you trouble.

Have a nice anime watching tho. :)

No, you should not be ashamed. Watch what you want, and if it doesn't seem to catch your interest, no need to keep watching. If I don't find a series interesting, or think it's terrible, I shamelessly drop it.

I dropped for example Detroit Metal City and Trinity Seven after just one episode.

Never watched them but I hear that Tokyo Ghoul and Mirai Nikki are pretty shitty anyway. And even if they were good if they didn't appeal to you then they didn't appeal to you. A high score on MAL isn't going to change your taste. So no, you shouldn't feel ashamed.

Your fine. I watch tokyo Ghoul and there was nothing that great about it.
Mirai Nikki is still on my PTW list.

I used to give shows 2 episodes. But that was when I was watching it weekly, now that I just wait till shows complete I tend to sit through the whole thing.

Well, I think you are okay. Who decides what is popular and what is not? Your anime taste miggt be different from the majority and it is nothing to be ashamed of. We all have the freedom to like whatever we want. An anime might be great but if you don't like the genre, you just don't like it. Or a popular anime with the genres you like might not be that great at all. There are issues like advertisement, sheep mentality, etc.

Besides, I think you give a show enough chance to impress you. 6 episodes tells pretty much how the show will go on.

I dont see why You shoul feel bad about it, After all, it's your preferences. If an anime fails to captivate you within the 1st couple of episodes, there's no need to waste your time on it. I've dropped a couple of shows myself because they were shit although they were ranked highly on this site. People have different preferences anyway so it's whatever.

What do you guys think?

1) Popularity might be a measure of quality. It might be a measure of broad appeal. But no anime appeals to everybody. It's normal to not like some popular shows.

2) It can be useful to watch some popular shows even if you don't like them. Just to understand other people better. Some of us actually do it, but most people don't.
Don't blame yourself if you aren't one of the people who force themselves to watch what they don't want to.

3) You are a great person. You don't need approval from other people. And you definitely don't need our stamp of approval to watch anime.

People still talk about Mirai Nikki? I thought the hype for that died down years ago.

You shouldn't feel ashamed, people drop shows for whatever reason, it's okay to drop things. That's why there is a dropped section for your lists!

Go ahead and drop. No one's stopping you.
I personally don't believe in dropping, but if i were to try and drop, then I'd probably watch 6 max of a 12 episode series or after 10 of a 24 episode series.

If we're talking about Tokyo Ghoul and Mirai Nikki, you're not really missing out on a lot. Drop whatever you want. Just because you don't like something popular doesn't mean that you have to be ashamed. Sure, you may not really catch up with conversations that involve said popular stuff but there's no shame in not watching something you don't really like.

Wow you dropped Tokyo Ghoul and Mirai Nikki? I got absolutely hooked by the both of them on episode 1.

Then again, I was intrigued by episode 1 of steins;gate as well unlike how many people claimed that it was boring until later.

You are unusual indeed. Aren't you even curious about the pink haired lady?
