Oh man, I can barely remember the last time I watched a dubbed anime, never could get used to the voice actors that the anime producers use (not to say the voice actors suck or anything, just doesn't feel natural to me when watching a Japanese made animation).

I guess my first dub anime technically would be Naruto, but I consider Death Note to be more of my first because it was around that time that I really got into anime and stuff. And probably the only reason why I watched it in English dub was because I always thought that it would be hard to find the English sub version of it so I didn't bother searching for it haha.

On a side note, Chinese dub (or whatever you call it lol), ain't too bad, but hey maybe it is because I am actually a Chinese (I find this shocking myself too lol).

So what are you guys' first anime that you watched in dub and why did you? If you are still watching anime in English dub why so?

I once accidentaly heard a bit of the english dub for the OG Ghost in the shell movie and at that moment I had a strong impulse to buy a brand new toaster, plug it in and take a nice long bath with it.

For me it was Dragonball Z, since I used to go rent out the VHS tapes every weekend.
Up till this day, it still remains as the only anime I'll ever watch in dub.

I am pretty sure most people's first anime would be dubbed unless, you know, they're a weeaboo from the start or they live in Japan.
"I like young-girl sexual creations, Lolicon is just one hobby of my many hobbies," he says.
I ask what his wife, standing nearby, thinks of his "hobby".
"She probably thinks no problem," he replies. "Because she loves young boys sexually interacting with each other."

True true, Pokemon dubs really felt alright to me, probably the only few 'animes' that I would watch in dub up till this date.

It's easier to ask me what first series I watched subbed.

That would probably be Bakemonogatari.

If i'm not mistaken it was Captain Tsubasa, because it what was available on TV that time.
While i dont like to watch dub animes now, i would say i liked most dubs back then (DBZ,Pokemon,Digimon, etc..).

Obvious shows that aired when I was younger like Pokemon, Digimon, Dragon Ball, One Piece, YuGiOh etc.

...but now, I go nowhere near a stinking dub.

Technically the first one I watched was Pokemon but since I only ever watched in every once in a while, I always say Death Note because I actually ended up watching that in it's entirety. And I've been watching dubs ever since. Mostly because I don't know Japanese and subs annoy me. I find it hard to focus on the action going on because I'm trying to read what they're saying. It very distracting

I'd never call you a retard for that, I praise you for admitting you like dubs, it's easier to understand dubbed anyway and I also admit I watch dubs once in a while.

First dub? Probably Digimon or Kochikame. Until this day, I've never found Kochikame except with Spanish dub, good thing I understand it.

Pokemon if you want to be technical, watching TV as a kid. Not sure if it was the original pokemon though... I know it aired on Boomerang for awhile but I'm not sure if that was my first or if I watched Pokemon Diamond & Pearl or something instead at first.

After that it would be Dragon Ball, it was introduced to me and I watched it Dubbed. Didn't even know about the whole 'Dub/Sub' at the time. Didn't know Anime was japanese, etc. I just was given something to watch, simply.

I still watch dub, I always prefer dub if it's available. I prefer hearing my own native tongue and not having to read subtitles. Not really much reason to it.

Naruto...mistakes were made. They had the DVD disk in the library so I thought why not...never again.

I did see pokemon dub on TV later on which was better than naruto's imo, but I still would rather watch in sub or raw

My first dub was either Soul Eater or '03 FMA. It also happened to be one of my first experiences with anime since DBZ as a young teen. I would say they were both above average dubs looking back on it now although I'm definitely a sub guy now.
