Magi subtitles: Is it just me or were they a bit lame?

Anyone else find the subtitles to be a bit lame on this one? It sort of took away the 'magic' for me a little bit. First time I've noticed this watching an Anime.. Not sure if it's peculiar to just this Anime or if perhaps I'm becoming synical already and starting to see through it all a bit. I'm hoping not and I'm imagining it more likely to be the former because I f***ing love this shit!

This is assuming that it's more likely to be the translation than the original writing if anything..
