| The adaptation seems to be a complete mess, but I don't remember this event in the manga. Must have been in one of the non-numbered chapters which I haven't read. Guts is such an idiot here though, to ride along with poor old man and the little girl T_T |

| Y'all talk about bad CGI but haven't you noticed anything other? Acting, sounds, music? Everything's so awful it's funny. Those clown attempts to look badass, overexaggerated expressions, super boring generic sounds of guitar and heavy metal. And those loud dramatic trumpet sounds like in a cheap horror movie - I couldn't stop laughing. I'd watch it even with such CGI, but not this clown fiesta. I guess going for manga is a way better idea |

| This episode had everything that made me excited about Berserk. I loved it. It surprises me that opinions are already this divided on the first episode. I suspect there are a lot of disgruntled manga-fans among them. As someone who hasn't read the manga (yet), I must say this was a good start of the season. 12 episodes aren't a lot though, so I really hope that they'll explain how Guts got out of his dire situation from the last season. That's my main question. It's not like those demon lords would let him escape just for fun. I'm not a big fan of CGI, but this "hybrid" style of Berserk 2016 honestly ain't THAT bad. The only scene that I thought looked funny was the one where he shot the rabbit. The way it tumbled looked worse than if it would've been drawn. I would still prefer that everything was hand-drawn, but beggars can't be choosers. And I'm not going to pass up on this series, just because of the "graphics", so to say. The music is definitely fitting. The old series' music was kind of all over the place. Not bad though. But the music from this series is what I consider more fitting. Especially as Guts seems to have become a bit insane now. But to be fair, who would still be sane after experiencing all the horrors he's been through? Why did he freeze up when the little girl attacked him? And the throwing up afterwards? Did he have a flashback to Julius' kid? Quick recap: Guts enters a tavern, beats up some thugs and frees a fairy. I don't really understand why she transformed into a sort of "plushie doll" during one scene, that was a bit weird. He leaves and eats a rabbit. Some little boy from the tavern tried following Guts, but got lost. Guts then encounters an old monk and his little girl. He declines a ride, but the monk insists. Guts warns them that he's followed by demons. Later on, the carriage gets attacked by skeletons. Some mercenaries/thugs that wanted to ambush Guts, got attacked as well by demon trees. The little girl dies, becomes a demon or gets posessed and proceeds to kill the monk. She then stabs Guts, who's phased for a moment. Then he chops her in half and starts cutting the tree demons. After the battle, he and the fairy start walking. We hear the demons that haunt him. It must be maddening. Guts seems to have lost (at least a part of) his mind and I can't blame him. Edit: Lol, after reading through the opinions, it seems there's indeed a lot of disgruntled manga-fans, but also a lot of "animation" elitists. And also a few people that are angry about Casca having a lighter skin-color. If FPS or skin-color is the only thing you care about in an anime, then go ahead and leave this series behind. Go read a manga at 1 FPS and no color. Honestly, people are calling this "garbage" while those people don't even know half the effort that goes into making something like this. Lighten up, people. |

| Hah, so this is this infamous Berserk anime from 2016? I will watch it at last. I wonder how will I see it after the last episode. CGI didn't look impressive, but I've seen worse examples of shows using it. Guts attacking with his giant sword sounded as if he was hitting something with a pan, lol. Too bad that this anime most likely won't be completely faithful to the source material, judging by the first episode, but oh well. I really liked depiction of Guts' nightmare. |

| I do not understand the guy who would just join that nasty Griffith simply because he managed to beat him in a fight. There are shows that has brutality like Black Lagoon, but in there friendly relationships are not built on brutality. Here on the other hand brutality seem to be the only way characters interact with each other. The only redeeming quality of this show is good animation and medieval weapons. |
