Western Alchemy at the end of the story

Just wanted clarification on something.

It is revealed in FMA:B and the manga that Western Alchemy (i.e. the type most characters in the series use) is actually powered by Father's philosopher stone, i.e. from all the citizens of Xerxes.

Does this mean that after Father is defeated, Western Alchemy ceases to exist and only Alkahestry remains, or does Western Alchemy like Alkahestry actually exist, but Father was just hijacking the process?

If my memory serves, Father was just interfering with the process.
