What are your thoughts on the new TLOU-Skyrim-Tomb Raider Slam-Mega Mash-up trying to pass itself off as a God of War spin-off/continuation? I especially liked the young kid with his authentic American accent and his "Yes surr!" that totally immerse me in the lore. And having him around Kratos who keeps shouting "Now it's your shot, boy... now go away BOIII" is really adrenaline-inducing action. Mod Edit: Title edited so that it's not biased. If you're going to put titles like that, then talk about your opinion of what it's doing in your OP, not the title. Very misleading. |

It was just the first couple minutes of the game, we've yet to see the depth of gameplay, could go either way. Maybe it will be breath of fresh air to the franchise already spanning 6 very similar games, or it could be a disaster completely alienating everyone who loved it. The biggest speculation is whether they have balls to kill Kratos off, which is kind of insane and impossible, and replace him with his son, who's been getting experience points during the gameplay footage (you even control him at one point). |

Looks pretty mediocre and uninspired, like they're going for the typical modern cinematic presentation. Another sluggish walking and talking game with a near over-the-shoulder camera that limits the action and makes it harder to see the epic environments. It's an insult to what David Jaffe tried to do ten years ago. Also, I find it funny how Kratos encourages his son to be self-assertive and two minutes later goes, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! ONLY FIRE WHEN I TELL YOU TO FIRE!!" |

First god of war game I am caring about. - They are making Kratos into an actual character instead of a problematic whiny rage man. - The game will focus on Kratos interaction with his son and passing down wisdom to his son - the developers described it as "Kratos teaching his son how to be a god, while his son teaches Kratos how to be a human". - Zero cutscene approach - RPG stats, crafting, resources, equipment, collectibles and secrets in the map. All of this sounds freaking great and hopefully will elevate GOW past the buttonmashy brawler legacy. |

I'm so sick of stories going way beyond where they should have ended. Thats kind of the point of the story? Kratos went on a rampage, killed everything till there was nothing left. He then most likely realized that there's nothing left and then probably decades latter ended up settling down in another location and having a kid and maturing. He still has parts of who he was in his behavior but he is trying to be more, trying to leave something behind from his existence that is not just a body count. It really reminds me of the farming arcs in both Vagabond and Vinland Saga, which were best parts of both series. How he came to there and why norse creatures are after him is most likely part of the story |

> Games from a series are too much a like, they shouldn't all be so similar > A game actually does something different > It doesn't feel like a game of the series!!!!! I always laugh at this. Personally I prefer games from a series to mantain their core and not just use the brand name for something completely different. I know OP does too, so the post isn't really directed at Mikasa. Can't wait to see Kratos being a softie tsundere dad with a tough love for his kid. Maybe he got in a cold bath, chilled and decided that after three games and killing both Gods and Titans, he had enough of being very very angry all the time. I need to see more of the gameplay. I don't mind incorporating new stuff but it worries me that they might make it way to different from the games. |

Loved the first god of war. But these days i'm expecting more in terms of story and the biggest problem i had with the series is that kratos is pretty one dimensional. I really hoped they wouldn't be making a fourth one but after seeing this it looks like they're finally giving kratos that much needed depth and the game / combat just look ridiculously good. Call me Hyped! Also a controllable camera, hooorayy! |

First-person isn't a step up. I get the impression Capcom has no idea what to do with RE. Why even make a sequel if it's going to be so alienating? They'd have a lot more freedom to experiment with a new IP. And it's not Capcom trying to be different, it's them copying what's in right now. Did we play the same game? Kratos was always about revenge and wrath. It was in god of war 3 that Kratos had the most development. His relationship with Pandora , and how he cared about her at one point more than his revenge, is what makes him more than just an angry avenger. His character shined through there, and all the past build up, paid off here. Especially his anguish over his family and how that shaped his relationship with his Pandora. Kratos is one of the best written avenger characters. |

An angry white male brimming with toxic masculinity trying to avenge his fridged family. That's not characterization. The narrative never questions it. There's no narrative. ITs all "brutal testosterone! So cool!". In this demo alone there's already more meaning to Kratos actions and nuance to his personality, becoming a character you can actually root for |

Out of all the games, GoW1 killed the most civilians via player. In GoW2 you never visit a human-inhabited city (well, Rhodes, but they're mostly Soldiers, unlike in Athens), and GoW3 was practically the apocalypse. Kratos was all rage? "I am so sorry my love, can you ever forgive me", to his wife (Gaia manipulating him, which is a pretty good reason for being pissed off to be fair) Him feeling sorry and angry for Sparta, for the last soldier, for Athena... what are you guys even talking about? God of War 1 and 2 are two of the most well-written stories in gaming history. GoWIII might have been a let down, but the ending itself was great. This new game's premise seems generic. A sulky old man not entrusting anything to a kid. Some cliche character development is ahead of us. How many revenge stories end up with some guy preaching how it brings nothing and vengeance leaves only emptiness? God of War embraced its revenge storyline and made one hell of a story out of it. And all games had excellent top-notch, absolutely unparalleled execution. No other series was this smooth when it came to action. Go look at any kill in any of the 3 games and show me one awkwardness or lacking of cool elements in it. |

Fai said: Changing the perspective is pretty significant. It alters the game way the game plays in a big way. I didn't see any zombies in the trailer, except maybe one on the ground. Even in the first RE, they were everywhere. I don't want RE to be another "atmospheric" walking game. They should have just ended it and tried a new IP. The only one I really liked was 4, but I respect the old games for influencing it. The Evil Within was pretty flawed but enjoyable for me. I'd be more interested in a sequel to that than another RE. It showed how incompetent Capcom is without Mikami. Ezekiel said: Resident Evil VII seems to have abandoned its roots almost completely. Really liked the changes they have done. I was under the assumption that this was actually a reboot of sorts but as it turns out this game does tie into the other God Of War games. Obviously in a way this game is a soft reboot since you don't really need to play the other games to play this one hence why it's called God Of War and it doesn't have a 4 at the end of it. But there definitely is some sort of connection between this God Of War and God Of War 3. |

I don't think this will be a bad game but for a God of War game? I'm all up for changing up the formula in sequels but this just looks to me like what OP said "TLOU-Skyrim-Tomb Raider Slam-Mega Mash-up trying to pass itself off as a God of War spin-off/continuation" It kinda feels like they didn't want to risk releasing this type of game as a "no name" so they just put a God of War name on it, a beard on Kratos and voila, take some hype from the brand people. Don't know how to feel about this honestly, guess I can for sure say that I won't be expecting much. |

It seems alright I guess, but didn't get to see the UI or anything really. It was turned off. I'm not really sure I like where it may be going though. I didn't really imagine Kratos having a son a/o apprentice. So that kinda has me off a bit for now. It just gives me the feeling it'll be a bit less action and more so training the boy to X point then a time skip where you start playing as him now as a teen/adult. I don't really care for filler stuff like that. I just hope it's not like Ascension since this is like a main game they're doing, not a sideline addition. Don't put a smear on the series :/ |

I would call myself the original audiance that you are refering to and I can still say that I do want to just "kill shit" in the cool mythological setting because GoW was that type of game. I don't mind the direction the game seems to take as in more story and development for Kratos, it's just the way they approached it all in such a "The last of us" way. I doubt they couldn't make a good story driven game with the previous or at least similar gameplay the game had if that is what they are aiming for now. Again, they already said that the whole game is about the kid teaching Kratos to be more human and Kratos teaching the kid how to be a god. If anything, Kratos is more likely to die at the end. Also its the same Kratos as in previous games. So why should he get powers AGAIN? That's not expecting less it's expecting the game will deliver what it showed you? Jesus, this is clearly the case of you not enjoying the formula the game had in the past and now you are interested in the new one because it addresses all those things you weren't happy with and I'm real happy for you but way to go and preach the "bad" things like they are something objectivly true when that is not the case. If so many ppl had issues with the game it wouldn't be as popular and successful as it is. Can't wait to see how you will twist this post and not actually address even half of it........ |

The trailer has lots of hidden details it seems: You can see strange being stalk the characters through t he gameplay: A strange winged creature flies around in the sky a few times. In the last shot you can clearly see a giant snake with scales moving through the forest: BigBoss said: That's not expecting less it's expecting the game will deliver what it showed you? Having one-dimensional problematic lead character whom you end up hating and who spends time being edgy and killing women is NOT a formula. ITs just bad writing. |

You did it again LOL, you really have a way of not addressing whole posts but literally only one word from a sentence....... You know what, let's just leave it at that. Hope you enjoy the new GoW game, cheers! |

Do you seriously use the word problematic unironically? And guess history was badly written, because ancient warriors tended to murder women and children. Guess history is "problematic" and should be removed. |

Yes it is quite detailed. If you look very closely at the top-left corner you can see the inevitable failure of the game. |

Very good video by Eurogamer showcasing the improvement in storytelling and the depth and detail the gameplay already shown had. Its nice to see God Of War actually get some depth beyond the usual punching monsters in the face. Guess history is "problematic" and should be removed. Ancient Mythos were written in masculine societies governed by sexist idea of male masculinity and overall gender roles. So yes, a LOT of ancient history can be very problematic, but hey - its history. AS long as nobody tries to replicate those ideas, its part of our past. The thing is - Kratos is not "ancient history" - its original story so what he does and problematic aspects of his character ARE the writers fault. In modern times. |
