This is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction as I don't read japanese and cannot understand exactly what the "Movie" tab is referring to.

Here is the link though: http://www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/books/violet/movie/

Quite unfortunate if this turns out to be the case. Violet Evergarden is a collection of short stories and would certainly fit a episodic format far better than a film. The exception being if the film is around 40 minutes in length and signal the start of a longer series of adaptions of the novels.

Nah, that doesn't mean anything. That's just how they collectively refer to trailers, CMs and PVs. (e.g., movie section on the UBW TV website)

It doesn't mean it will be a movie. It's not uncommon in official japanese anime/doroma websites. They refer to "movie" pages/links as something that contain videos (usually commercials (CMs), promotional videos (PVs) or previews of upcoming episodes).

Also wouldn't really the movie format be weird for Violet Evergarden when people mentioned in annoucement thread the source material is kinda episodic with just Violet as recurring main character and how would the work decently in movie format...

Honestly, I fully agree with this

If this ends up being a TV series, there's no way in hell it's going to look even close to as good as the PV does. Movie budgets are larger and allow for much more focus, so it's far more likely the animation quality will hold up in a movie format.

So yes, please for the love of god be a movie!

I hope it is TV series

Movie means that we have to wait for so long to come on blu-ray, and wait longer for proper eng subs

Yeah, same here.
I prefer TV series but at this level of animation at TV show can't be regular.

Today at the Q&A Panel at Animagic (in Mannheim, Germany) Ishidate said himself that's why they chose after long discussions to make a series out of it because it fits the source better.

Sorry to break it to you guys but there was a live screening of the first episode in Los Angeles (or San Diego can't remember) and Kyoto Animation themselves confirmed it earlier this year that it is going to be a TV series.

Movie, like what the others said, is just a collection of trailers and commonly used by anime production teams in Japan from what I had noticed.

We know, look at the date. ^^
