I'm a bit confused

Hi

I'm interested in watching Fullmetal Alchemist or Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood but I've heard one of them is a bit graphic, one place I hear it FMA:B but another place I heard it's the original one.

Which one is it or are both very graphic?

Thanks for the help!

Neither series is super-graphic with their violence--just bloody. I'd be comfortable rating both series 13+. As for which to watch, you'll need to watch the 2003 series first, no questions asked. The first part of the 2009 anime completely assumes you've already done so and rushes through the first 13 episodes.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

FMA wasn't too bloody (there's some psychological stuff, but it's not really that gruesome). I haven't seen FMAB.

I haven't seen FMA:B (yet) but FMA isn't very bloody. Personally I like to watch things in the order that they come out so I'd start with FMA.

They both have different ending, so it will be weird to watch them both. I never watched neither (I read the manga) but I can think of another exemple where the gap between the ending of one season has a huge gap if you're looking at the next one.
If they really have more detailed episodes in BFMA maybe you should watch just what episodes they have in common (as said above, 13 first of FMA)

I loved them both, but FMA:B is better. FMA was my favorite show ever until I watched FMA:B

Are far as graphic violence goes, there is some in each and neither is over the top. I couldn't say there is a noticeable difference between the 2 in that regard.
