My friend let me in on her family account and honestly? kinda hate it. It doesn't have any of the music I like and it's frustrating to navigate. I pay for youtube red and youtube music works waaaaay better.

Not exactly. Spotify streaming pays artists fuck-all, the Premium requirements across different versions of the app are grossly inconsistent, it tells you to buy Premium every 2-3 songs you listen to, and whenever the web player stops functioning, it's a nightmare to get it running again.

Spotify is the only music service I trust. I refuse to use Apple Music.

Anyways, here my playlist, judge me all you want:

I liked it at first, but I listen to some underground stuff which just isn’t on there. I mainly used youtube for music.

yup. my lofi and instrumental playlists are on youtube and soundcloud cus they aren't on spotify.

Also, used to be a firm believer that free spotify would suffice. Damn did that change. If you listen to music or podcasts equal to or more than an hour a day it is worth.

I don't really like using Spotify for listening to songs, I prefer having YouTube on and playing my songs from there.

spotify is pretty awesome right now. i used it back in 2016 for a bit, but now they've managed to expand their range of music since then. it still surprises me when i search up some apparent niche song and find it on their catalog. even if it's not on there, i can just find it online and organize it using the local files feature

premium's the only subscription i have besides amazon, and both are pretty worth

Spotify isn't awesome, Spotify premium is awesome. It would be more awesome if more of the actual Jpop songs were in there instead of those bad remakes or fan covers

What kind of music do you listen to? I'm curious.

I like spotify. The algorithm helps me find banger tracks. Youtube is all over the place. Don't have youtube red and don't want to have youtube red.

i think there's a lot of family packs you can get for cheap as long as you have a couple of buddies. anyways if somethings not on spotify then usually it's on soundcloud. but spotify is a lot less tedious anyways.

The removal of a lot of songs on my "Liked songs" section reminds me of the importance of owning CDs. If I don't own the song, Spotify's my 2nd choice behind YouTube.

Yeah, I always use the Spotify app to listen to music on my phone. Millions of songs are there for me to download with my premium account. I can also use the Music Converter for Spotify from AudFree to store them on my other players. It is a perfect tool for me.

Well Spotify introduced a lot of great songs to me that's why I opted in for the premium. It's just kind of sad that there are still a lot of songs/albums that are not available

Thanks for listening to Spotify. No really you could’ve listened to the radio. You could’ve spun some vinyl you could’ve played a cassette tape. You could’ve listened to an 8 Track tape if you knew what an 8 Track tape looked like but you listen to Spotify. Thanks for that and you still have hundreds more playlists to enjoy.

Go ahead, reply. I'm not going to read it.

It only has 320kbps mp3 for its highest quality.

Just switch to deezer if you're going to pay after all

For normal people, yes
For me, it sucks
Why should I get it in the first place when I can download every song I want from the internet?
Also it's not useful for us weebs because most songs that we want are not on it(especially game and anime OSTs)

Streaming in general is fine, but I still end up buying music because Poweramp has the best equalizer.

no. it sucks. it doesn't make sense for me to use it without premium and I'm pretty stingy, so no way. but the concept is still great, so i use it without premium and the advertisement annoys the hell out of me. this is probably a stupid thing to do, but there's no way I'm gonna pay for that, when I can buy CD's and listen to my father's gramophone record.

It REALLY isn't. I can't find most of the albums I wanna listen to, especially when it comes to Japanese stuff. I know it's a region lock thing but still...

I’ve had Spotify ever since I was in high school and it’s honestly amazing. I would find new music to listen to on there besides SoundCloud.

Spotify sucks, Pandora is better. I'd rather download my music though if I want to listen to a particular song.

A lot of Japanese artists in particular do not release their music on spotify, so I just use youtube. Spotify is perfect for American music though.
I also find it easier to find new songs on youtube whether it be American or Japanese, comments and music videos are also cool.

>basic bitch selection
>artists removed for political reasons
>no way to choose which edition/mastering of an album you're listening to, in the era of brickwalled remasters and atrocious remixes
>causes people to unlearn how to discover new or slightly esoteric music ("it's not on spotify, why bother?" "rec me some good x genre artists who are actually on spotify" etc)

no
There's nothing especially awful about spotify, but it is awful. It's just another step in the continuing homogenization of all art and culture into a tightly controlled global corporate monoculture.

With the slow death of physical media, it's depressing how youtube, soulseek and maybe a couple other p2p services are really the only things preventing hundreds of thousands of releases from becoming lost media in the near future.
