Should there be a ranking list among users?

I went onto the users page found under Community to see how my amount seen anime differed from the user that had seen the most... But unfortunately on the users page, its very bland...

Would it be possible to have a list of which user:
Watched the most anime shows?
Spent the most amount of time watching anime?
Read the most manga?
Who reviewed the most anime?

Anyways, I just wanted to compare myself to whoever had the most :3

The reason I want to differ this from http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=501089&goto=post&id=18474017 this recomendation is because I'd want it to be discreet, something that you have to go look at all users for, not on the front page or anywhere people would see just because...

Also I believe that the MAL community is mature enough to not simply try and make the top rank. Why lie about something so simple?

If after a while, users start ''Watching'' or ''Reading'' a lot more of anime or manga then simply disable it and replace it with a note that the ranking system was being abused by immature users :o

I've encountered a bunch of profiles that just added every anime and/or manga in the DB, sometimes even in ways that suggest some automated script so I'm pretty sure these toplists would be filled with profiles like that. They already exist even without much of an incentive so if you give them a platform to gain attention they would probably only increase.

If you want to look at some of the largest legitimate profiles here is a good starting point.

I probably regret this post by now.

There used to be something called "power users", but that was removed. I believe one of the reasons may be that it could encourage elitism. There are debug/database accounts like d00t that would be at the top for "most completed anime" so it would be kinda worthless anyway.

Nope. Bad idea. No need to feed elitism here. This idea will only validate such nonsense. Also, people can lie or fill their lists with shorts and ovas just to increase their completed count. Not a healthy thing to do.

I don't think this should be implemented. This isn't a competition and like others said, it would only encourage elitism. Lists wouldn't be genuine anymore since users would do whatever it takes just to fill up their lists for the sake of filling it up.

No. Some people would gain some superiority complex because they would be "high ranked", not to mention there is a lot of users that fake the amount of anime/manga they watch/read already.

That honestly sounds like a terrible idea. People already get the notion that they are better than others because of how much they have watched/read so why make it an actual thing to bloat their egos. Plus like others have said some would abuse/fake it.

Maybe something more along the lines of up voting posts that are helpful and that could go towards an overall point system to a user.
