Greetings, I am Nukemind. I watched Anime as a child, dropped it, and picked it up again thanks to seeing a show I watched as a child on someone's iPad. Since then I have devoured it. I recently joined MAL, happy to be here- I've watched many more shows than I have listed... I just need to find them all. And I'm to lazy to list what I rewatched. Above all, remember.
Can't wait for the next episode. <8 hours. Need to sleep, gonna get maybe 4 hours of sleep. Get some Reddit karma tomorrow too. I've been trying to knock a Rokka no Yuusha comment off my front page, and my goal is to have #1 comment just one more time.

You should read Arc 4's summary on wiki as he suggests before looking at this.
Can't wait this arc animated one day.
It's kinda funny how one arc would shut so many people up ( and threads here ) with their pointless criticism that has one common answer to fix it; patience.
No if anything it should been have obvious that like everyone Emilia has her issues (especially after ep 13), all which have been hinted at in the anime, but instead most of them sprout crappy meaningless memes. It doesn't make any sense to called any of girls "waifu" regardless how much you know about them when they clear displayed that they have their own opinion and goals and character. The suggestion Emilia is bad character because she happens to be good natured makes me roll my eyes, especially since that applies nearly every character in cast. Honestly I doubt those people are gonna like her after Arc 4 anyway because they are that shallow.
I believe they complaint about emilia's lack of char dev were because they are anime viewers, which they expect the anime to solve everything in just 1 season and flesh out every bit characters otherwise considered bad, it's very different with readers that have flexible pacing in reading, that they expect the series to be properly develop itself
Seems like most anime viewers have a horrible sense of time. How can they expect char Dev in a few weeks. Its an anime about a time loop how can they miss that.
Anime: Re:Zero
It’s me again, coming to you with a new report/summary of the 18th episode of the Re:Zero radio show, hosted by Takahashi Rie (Emilia’s seiyuu). This week’s guest was Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, the seiyuu of Betelguese.
Please note that the only episodes of the anime discussed this week, were episodes 15 and 17.
DISCLAIMER: Long post ahead. It’s longer than usual, actually, there were just a lot of interesting moments which I couldn’t give up. Thank you for your understanding. ^^
Minor notes: I stop calling Takahashi by her first name, but Rie is still the host of the show. I just realized that I’d rather call her by her last name. I also shortened the names of the speakers to the first letters of their names. I’m sure you’ll manage to figure out who is who.
This episode of the radio show was especially amusing – and filled with MANY Betelguese voice impressions, both from Matsuoka and Takahashi (she actually did a really good job!).
First off, Takahashi announced that this is the first time that an antagonist was a guest on the radio, and she said she hopes that a change will bring some fresh air into the show.
They started off with discussing episode 15:
Takahashi: What did you think of the first time you got to “meet” Betelguese?
Matsuoka: Well, I have voiced somewhat insane characters on a few occasions previously, but I must say that the first time I saw the profile of the character I immediately thought “…What?”. I started off with my brain trembling.
T: *laughs* And how did that feel? What did you plan to do after that?
M: I figured I should calm down first and check the script. And God, his lines were fast. And not just that, he also had that intense way of speaking. So, for the first time in a while, I was actually afraid of going to the recording session.
T: I think at that recording session the only people were the seiyuu of Subaru, Rem and you, Matsuoka-san? No, there was also Puck, that’s right. It was a pretty small setting of people, so how did it feel actually acting with them in one room?
M: Well, actually, we already recorded some things during the sound tests so unofficially they already got a feel of the character, but I was so stressed that the voice I used for Betelguese at first ended up being higher than the one I used in the recording later on.
T: How did you decide on the final voice you would go with?
M: I just went with my gut feeling – I instinctively chose what felt best. I also did some research online to find out more about the character and found the most fitting voice within me. But the acting part was difficult; I learned that while voicing him, I couldn’t depend on momentum or anything of that sort. His lines just wouldn’t connect or would sound odd. So I understood that just going with momentum would actually be slothful and just wouldn’t work for him.
Takahashi also said that she thought it was pretty nice of Betelguese to start up a conversation with Subaru when he was trapped in that cave.
Matsuoka: You consider THAT nice? Then again, it was said that he’s the most sane person in the Witch’s Cult. We actually discussed that during the recording, that his level of sanity was decent in comparison to the rest of the Cult.
Takahashi also said that she wanted to know how she could imitate Betelguese’s way of speaking, and Matsuoka was nice enough to teach her on air (though unfortunately that’s something you would have to hear, since I can’t exactly transcribe that). Matsuoka laughed really hard when Takahashi tried to imitate him, but also said that “it’s technically not wrong”. Matsuoka said that it’s pretty tiring to speak like Betelguese and that already during the test he was sweating a lot, not to mention the actual recording where he was drenched.
Takahashi: Going back to episode 15, what left the greatest impression on you? Did you have any thoughts scene-wise, expression-wise, etc?
Matsuoka: Every part of Betelguese left an impression on me, to be honest. Well, his self-introduction was pretty impactful. Or, wait. I know! I was watching the live airing of the episode and I really loved the moment when he was beating up the other cultist.
Takahashi: Yes, I’m sure it looked different than during the recording.
M: Yes, of course, I mean we only get to see the raw drawings without any color or any effects and just parts of the movement. I was actually worried about that, considering how essential movement is to Betelguese’s expression but the director told me not to worry, that the animators would draw the scene while listening to my acting and would then decide what would fit best. I really appreciated that.
T: Really makes your brain tremble, doesn’t it?
M: Yes, *in Betelguese’s voice* it TREMBLES!
Matsuoka also commented that as we see in the anime, Subaru changes every time he dies and ‘restarts’, but he’s noticed that Subaru isn’t the only one who’s changing.
Matsuoka: With the way Kobayashi-san (Subaru’s seiyuu) synchronizes with Subaru during recording, it’s like he’s personally losing his grip on reality more and more. So now I’m sort of worried that he might surprise attack someone during the next recording session or something.
Takahashi: Whaaaat? So what, I’ll be killed next? And then he’ll tell me “it’s all thanks to me! The fact that you got to voice Emilia was because of me! All of it, all of it was because I was there!”
Matsuoka really laughed at that one.
Then, in relation to episode 16:
Takahashi: What would you do if a white whale suddenly appeared beside you?
Matsuoka: Hrmmm… First of all, I’d say “Yo!”
T: Yes, greetings are important after all.
M: Yeah, and after greeting him perhaps he would be impressed with my confidence and leave me alone. Then again, if I went “MY BRAIN TREMBLES” really loudly while he stood beside me then he’d just think I’m insane and he’d stay away.
In a later segment of the show they also had a bit of a quiz and because Matsuoka didn’t answer correctly, he had to rap about Betelguese and his experience on voicing him. Takahashi improvised the beat with some beatbox (she was good!) and it actually turned out surprisingly decent.
They finished off with some thoughts on episode 17:
Matsuoka: At first during the tests, they told me that Betelguese is biting his hands, but then doing the actual recording they said he bites one finger at a time, and I didn’t quite know how to approach that. My hands were pretty badly bitten already *laughs*. But it was difficult to speak like that. I sort of just went with speaking with clenched teeth for a part of it. But during the proper recording I was actually biting my fingers. It’s pretty funny now that I think of it, because I could have just bit the same finger over and over again but I actually bit five different fingers in the order it’s shown in the anime.
They also briefly mentioned more ideas for a “Daily Life of Betelguese” Spin Off, one of which featured him as a baseball narrator, commenting on a big game “There’s a lot of pressure on the pitcher, all bases loaded and two strikes out. And the crowd trembles!”. Another one suggested a trip to a hot spring and a massage which would make his shoulders tremble, for a change.
To be honest, there is still more which I could write about but I’ll end it here (this is way too long already). Next week’s guest will be Rem’s seiyuu, Minase Inori again (Takahashi said that she’s basically a permanent guest with how often she’s featured on the show).
This post series will be marked with headphones and the title of the radio show so please look out for it~
Thanks for reading and be sure to leave your thoughts below. :D

Tappei apologized for not live tweeting as much this week because this upcoming episode features a very important moment for him so he will pay all of his attention to it.
Subaru death in the novel was much more disturbing and longer than the anime if I remember correctly. They also cut the Echidna parts where Betelgeuse goes full insane mode
The best episode for my taste. No seriously. It goes by the LN so well.... the part where she said "I like Subaru-kun's eyes, finger, how he walks, how he pets her, etc" is also included nicely.
Then the most surprising part is my favorite quote!!!
「――だって、スバルくんはレムの英雄なんです」
When they adapt it with budget and sudden change of scene, I had fanboygasm.
Oh it ends exactly on chapter 5 guys.
It's best episode for me, because I'm the pickiest guy about pacing. AND THIS EPISODE IS DA BEST.

There are like 7-8 episodes from this series that is better rated than this one. That's sad, it shows the miserable state of the community watching anime for all the wrong reasons and being blind to what's actually happening.

If this goes on it may get more hate than episode 13 :D
Hongu said: Looking at the comments on Crunchyroll, people REALLY don't seem to like this episode. At all.
If anything this episode made it clear what people have a clear understanding of storytelling and who is simply here for the fights, the guts, the blood and the "Wow, badass" moments or in other words popcorn anime.
Personally I loved the shit out of this weeks episode, I want to compare it to Shinji Ikaris road to redemption but I don't think it quite lives up to that, I don't really remember eva that much tbh.
