Not really yes they end it with a nice little bow, but they end at book 4 which is the first year. The series goes on with a second year of the team in books 6-10. With 8 and 5 being little side stories.

Edit: sorry for my poor explanation but there is still more content to the series and with the books not being translated into English it would just be a cool idea if they made the anime .

I guess I can understand that....but its kind of silly to think a petition signed by 500 people could have any impact on the millions of dollars production costs, and hundreds of work hours that go into creating an anime.

There are petitions that have 20,000 or 30,000 signatures, but all of them do shit to get a new season/ adaptation/ reboot of a series.

That is true...but I see it as like throwing a pebble in a pond the ripple is bigger than the pebble. It may be something small, but it may show that an audience is still there and it may be a small one, but for every signature on it, there are probably two who wouldn't want to sign out of embarrassment or other reasons. It's just the way I like to think.

Edit: Plus it may just make people who are interested know that it's not really the end of a really amazing show.

We don't need a second season. Those 17 episodes concluded the main romance and the main drama. I guess we could use a movie to conclude the whole controlling thing, but its not needed.
