| Maybe it should be disabled for descrtiptions? Take a look at this: http://myanimelist.net/people/3668/Kentarou_Takekuma Someone wrote the person's nickname on Facebook with an @, and it turned into a link to a profile of some user. Yeah, it can be fixed by editing the description and making a proper link, but it's very likely that there are more instances of this in the database and who knows when we'll spot them all. I think there is no reason for the @ thing to work in these descriptions. |

That's not what he suggested though. He suggests to remove bbcodes for descriptions so it wouldn't confuse people with an user on MAL. There's a user named Kentaro here, and if you follow the @ tag in the description (check image below), then it will lead to a whole other person and might confuse people.  <- See the @ tag here? |

| As it stands, I can only say disabling BBcode is the best way out. Like they are disabled for all the anime and manga reviews so I am thinking it won't be that hard to implement. But the downside will be, the [url] tags will not work as well which is troubling in it's own way as well. Both ways have their own negatives :P If disabling bbcode is easier the aftermath is worse. If we are going to remove the @ it's going to take time and effort. |
