I agree that this was more entertaining than the first season. I'm not so naive as to expect that it will keep getting better in the 3rd season, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Also, Gourry and Lina have their ultimate moment of mutual self-sacrifice, a first kiss scene as they descend victorious from the heavens amidst twinkling lights and then a marriage scene ensues... between Zangulus and Martina. I suppose the lesson is that Slayers never stops taking the piss. ;)

I prefered the first season, and I think some of the first episodes of this second season sucked, but it's very good, specially near the ending. I will give it a 9/10.

Personally i liked this one the best of the three original series. It doesn't differ much from the first one. Only that there's one main plot and this one had a alot more serious scenes than the first one. It still was sprinkled with a lot of comedic episodes next to the fighting ones.

The ending was pretty dramatic and the Lord of Nightmare's entrance was one of the best entrances that i've seen in anime. And the whole ascension of the Lord of Nightmare back to oblivion was pretty damn emotional.

I usually hate when a show pulls out the "no one important to the story dies"- and "convenient amnesia"-cards, but Slayers make it work. We know they love each other, they just dont know it yet.

Now that i think about it this was my first anime with a bit of romance in it. And the show did it really well.

After rewatching i'm gonna raise my rating for this to 9/10 from 8/10. Now that i'm a bit older i can appreciate the finer things in this anime, other than the kickass artwork and spell-casting and -animation.

Now for Try, which i remember not being as good as the first two(IMO), but its still part of the Slayers saga.

What they've done well over the first two seasons has been to gradually build the romance between Gourry and Lina--everyone else can recognize it but the two involved are still not quite ready to call it what it is. I'm starting to get some vibes from Zel and Amelia along those lines as well (although she seems a bit young she is better developed than Lina) particularly after the princess carry. Zangulus and Martina had a pretty short courtship, but she's impulsive (very impulsive) and Zangulus appeared powerless to resist her--and now she's finally beat Lina (haahaahaa...).

Gourry was very cool in this episode. I really enjoyed the final. This season was just as good as the previous one.

An awesome episode for sure. I loved how it ended this is how every anime should end :D.
That kiss was a surprise though. Also seems like Zangulus was pushed into the marriage :D.
I am going to raise it from 9 to 10, awesome series.

The last couple of episodes from this season were very, very powerful to witness. Seeing Gourry Gabriev chase after Lina Inverse was a serious character transformation for the two of them.

This episode took a few replays to get it out of my system. Way better than the first season, although there were still a couple of filler episodes.

So Lina and Gourry kissed but do not remember it? What a shame, it would be more interesting to see how their relationship develops.

A bit better that the first season. 8/10 from me.

I don't understand one thing, why Lord of Nightmares took sword of light and turned it back to Xellos? I thought it may be trade for Lina, but if he turned
it back it doesn't make sense.

Aside that I enjoyed that season, however op and ed wasn't as catchy as in s1 :<

This was the best season by far, and it's a shame Lina and Gourry never remembered the kiss. I wonder if they'll ever get romantically involved.

And I think the plot developed pretty well. The OST also rocks and the fillers were fun.

Also, I agree with @Shinobinomi and that would be all for know, since I hadn't watched this show for years. But I remembered this episode was pretty epic.
The mindfucker.

Awesome season. That was an epic climax.

Hmm. I think its interesting that the Lord of Nightmares let Gourry have what he wanted. That kiss scene was great stuff too, even if they don’t remember it.

I’m looking forward to the next seasons.

Funny, during the last season I prefered the first half over the climax, now it's the opposite. Dope finale and the character development pushed my enjoyment a great deal.

This was pretty spectacular, especially for the standards of this series. I was also honestly hoping for a kiss, but didn't expect to see one, so glad I was wrong.

Can someone explain why the Lord of Nightmares decided on a whim not to destroy the earth and return Linas body?

i think it is only our assumption that destruction is her true goal? as the mother of everything, her motives are unfathomable. why would you need to summon her to enable her to destroy her own creation? or maybe she already did as she is omnipotent and timeless..

maybe it was just that. a whim. maybe she was moved by gourrys determination.

Heck even Xellos couldn't explain it so I will digress why the Lord of Nightmare relented and returned Lina's body...so on to more adventures then!

Awesome finish for this season. 8/10

Didn't expect Zangulus and Martina to marry in the end, not sure who's the lucky one here. Martina is a beautiful woman though, even though a bit goofy.

Did not like the second season as much as the first one, but there wasn't really that much difference tbh. 6/10

Somehow enjoyed more with this season than the last due to better art and plot consistency and nice seeing characters' involved more together but still not sure which one of two would be my was most favorite. Like I do wished we could see other characters' could shined more into the big battles or get their own arc to feel more complete. I also did liked Xellos's character as much as others and hoping to see him more involved with the party!

An primordial eldritch existence with an unexpected benevolent side is one of my favorite tropes in fiction and a dying art in the modern world predicated by cynicism. I love how neither the protagonists nor the villains truly understood the will of the Lord of Nightmare, and despite that everything ended well for our heroes in a cheesy way. Also Hayashibara Megumi's voice is absolute ASMR when Lina isn't growling like a maddened chihuahua.

cheesy but it made me emotional, eh, finally lina x gourry ship sailed.

i wonder what's the deal with xellos, he was following hellmaster, but now that he's gone, what's he up to?
