From Eroica with Love is amazingly hilarious, but I guess the shounen-ai tag restricts its popularity. Which is a shame, since the relationship between the leads is usually just played for laughs and could just as well be described as a somewhat reluctant bromance.

In the West, few know of Yokoyama's epic adaptation of the Romance of Three Kingdoms, Sangokushi.

How can one love plots and mind games, yet not love this huge classic? Artfags begone!

I think my manga favorites list is the answer of your question, except Bleach and Slam Dunk, and probably Crows.

Same 2 u ;) i think Methuselah is one of the unique manga mentioned and embodies clearly about people's solitary life.
In my hometown, Immortal rain was published but has been dropped to vol 8 -___- so sad :v

Konjiki no Gash!! I guess. 5k users even with an Anime.

Maybe the appearance is off putting? Some of the older mangas being mentioned are like an instant turn off for me. Others are mentioning new manga, but they are always obscure.

Kakukaku Shikajika has always been the most clear case of this to me

I find it sincerly mind-boggling that a finished manga rated 8.76 isn't even in the top 2000 in popularity. Like seriously? Why? I don't get it

Even though this is nothing more than a listing thread, I hope the mods don't lock it. It could be a great source of manga series to read for people who want something less known.

Hime-chan no Ribbon! This one has an anime adaptation which I used to watch when I was little. Of course, the manga is so much better! It's really nostalgic to me, it's soo cute.
A manga that recently became one of my favorites is Piano no Mori. Still have to read the ending, but it's a really nice emotional manga... that nobody seems to read.
Kimi to Boku and Ookiku Furikabutte both have anime adaptations, not many western people have watched them and even less know about the manga. These two are in my top 5.
Then there's Piece, which is something different from typical modern shoujo manga.
Last but not least... Kono Oto Tomare!. But for some reason I'd like this to remain a secret pleasure for me and the few people who read it (even in Japan, since it doesn't sell that much, lol)

Well, Otoyomegatari is still fairly underground, but I'd have to say Kaoru Mori's other ongoing series, Shirley Madison. I know why it's unpopular (not translated, few chapters, a very slice-of-life plot, no romance, ect) but it's still fairly sad.

Also throwing in Shiranui Kitanroku, a short collection of even shorter horror stories, and Golden Kamuy, a rather odd little historical fiction. One I hope to enjoy even more as I read is Umi no Cradle, another slice-of-life-ish historical fiction manga. I've only read 7 chapters, though - as soon as I get some money, I'm buying as many volumes as Amazon France will throw at me. But at least Umi no Cradle has a French translation for me to buy. Bar Otoyomegatari, none of the others do. -grumblegrumble-

Hinamatsuri, definitely. Jashin-Chan Dropkick. These two are hilarious for very diferent reason and have completely different atmospheres. Plus Hinamatsuri has this way of making feel thing you wouldn't expect at the most odd time. (Anzu is them feels all the time T.T) I also really like Hekikai no AION, mainly because the main character is an immortal girl fighting the most eff'd up mermaids I have ever seen. Dragon's Rioting is a really good series too, it looks like a generic fan service shonen but there surprisingly less fan service than you'd think.

That manga is sad! Well it started out funny but got dark pretty quick.

My first manga was one piece but I never actually finished it up until about a year ago and now I stay updated, the first one I finished was the manga for REC.
How fitting (or depressing I haven't decided) for my 100th post to be about me complaining about dicks who review shows without finishing them.

Gunslinger Girl has fallen into obscurity hasn't it? I remember when the anime came out it was somewhat popular because at the time that kind of anime was uncommon for the most part.

I thought Shindou was really great.
Zi Bu Yu is probably my favorite manhua and I don't think it's well known. I love March Story too, but the lack of English scanlation (gotta buy the books) means not many have read it.

Eden no Hana is pretty good if I remember corectly, read it a long time ago. I don't know when do you consider something not well known but Let Dai should have more fame. Once Again (Manhua) should be good (Gawd I have read too mane manga's, I can not remember anything >.<) Sonnan ja nee yo should be enjoyable if you are a shoujo maniac like me.Tada, Kimi wa Aishiteru - if you ar looking for something short.
You know when I was looking through my Completed list, I noticed that most of the manga's I have read are pretty popular. I think I should read more less popular manga, because that doesn't mean that they aren't good.

Bokurano isn't a very popular series and I loved it.

There are also some one-shots which deserve more attention: Bradherley no Basha, Hideout and Hanshin. All of these were on a groundbreaking level for me, man. I wish more people read these, especially that one chapter of Hanshin. I've never seen any similar manga to that.

I agree with Shindou being unknown. It's quite good and licensed on Crunchyroll, so why have only 32 people on here read it?

I read Golden Days last month, and I kept wondering why no one ever told me about it before. Though it's not been fully scanlated, so it might become more popular as more people read its really great ending.

I've definitely found several series that look good from this thread.
