classical, jazz, the beatles (yes they are their own category haha), and vaporwave =] those are my favorite genres but that doesnt mean I don't like music from other genres.

I know vaporwave is a cancerous meme but there's some good shit (as well as a lot of bad shit lol)

My Favorites:
Thrash Metal (ie. Exodus, Sodom)
Oldschool Death Metal (ie. Cancer (British band), Cannibal Corpse, Death, Sepultura)
Folk Metal (ie. Arkona, Ensiferum, Moonsorrow)

Others I like at least some of:
Melodic Death Metal (ie. Amon Amarth, Bolt Thrower)
Oldschool Black Metal (ie. Bathory)
Oldschool Heavy Metal (ie. Aria (Russian band), Ronnie James Dio)
Power Metal (ie. Blind Guardian, Iced Earth)
Oldschool Punk (ie. Black Flag)
'80s Rock/Hair & Glam (ie. Deff Leppard, Journey, Quiet Riot, Ratt, Whitesnake)
Pre-1980s Country (ie. Marty Robbins, Skeeter Davis)
Oldschool "Pre-Classic" Rock (ie. Elvis Presley)

I'll also shamelessly admit I like some vocaloids and I unironically like some vaporwave.

I don't like/hate modern country, modern post-grunge rock, metalcore/nu-metal, pop, and (c)rap/hip hop.

Everything else is either okay (ie. Classic Rock, Grunge) or I haven't listened to it much/not really interested in it (ie. Classical).

In terms of vocals I'd have to say OPM (Original Phillipine Music/Filipino Pop).

But I listen to all kinds of music like Prog Rock, Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, (Though not Metalcore, Deathcore, or Grindcore,), Jazz Fusion, Jazz, Blues, Blues Rock, J-Pop, K-Pop, C-Pop, Thai-Pop, OPM, V-Pop, Cambodian Pop, Mongolian Pop, Kazahk Pop, and Glitch Hop.

To me alternative is about mixing different styles: for example, maybe pop and rock with some folk elements, maybe metal with EDM or country or whatever.

I said alternative because I love creating rock/metal songs and put some electronic stuff or a clean bridge with a bluesy solo, that kind of stuff. Of course some of this mixes match and some of them don't, but experimenting with music is so much fun :)

I get what your saying and I like when people mix genres and styles and just experiment. I just meant to point out I find the term alternative to be more associated with college rock for some reason.

Classical Music is by far my number one.

But if you mean music that contains songs, aka modern stuff.
Then I have three all tied, no genre is better than the other here.
1- Europop/Dancepop basically 70's and 80's music with a bit of 90's.
2- Alternative rock/Progressive Rock
3- Jazz

But Good soundtrack and Classical music pieces are by far the superior.

Post 2010 music is trash, Maroon 5 is acceptable, but the others, hell no.

  • Kpop (but there's a huge chance I won't like a song if it's more rapping than singing)
  • Extreme heavy metal like brutal death metal or grindcore

The only good way to know if I'll like a song it's to make me listen to it.

Metalcore, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Power Metal. <- my favorites.
Guitar instrumentals, guitar solos, remixes, and improvisations <- I love these! Especially because I play guitar too.

I can listen to things like Deathcore, Black Metal, Death Metal, and anything heavier - but I do not really like them - aside from the one that I have spelled on the top. I can also listen to anything lighter than Heavy Metal, such as Rock. Hell, I even listen to EDM sometimes. There are a few exceptions, however.

Oh, and I also listen to Anime songs, idol songs. I can listen to almost any music - with the exceptions of rap, EDM with too much effects, and pop. It's not like I dislike them - it simply annoys me.
