| In think that the comedy genre is almost always a secondary one. When I look for animes I prefer that comedy is present on them but not necessarily as the main one. I really don't think it's underrated. |
| Comedy is one of the most subjective traits an anime can have. Different types of humour appeal to different people; if an anime is purely comedy with a very loose plot then it makes sense that it would have difficulty appealing to a bigger audience. If someone doesn't find it funny then there's very little reason left to watch it. If you take a look at the top 50, a lot of the anime have a lot of comedy in them, it just isn't the prime focus. Gintama, OPM and Monogatari 2nd have fair amounts of comedy to them, but there's more to them than that. Comedy is my favourite genre by far (as you can tell from my favourites list) but it makes a lot of sense that it wouldn't be taking over all the top spaces. |

| Because japanese humour is much different than what we are used to so most people won't find it funny. There are exceptions of course but none of them ( from what i've seen) are a pure comedy. |
| Well, Gintama is mostly comedy. Doesn't seem very funny to me though. I laugh more at random stuff in sports anime. |

| I do enjoy comedy anime but a lot of it seems really childish and not funny at all, so its rare for me to find a comedy anime that i actually found funny. Comedy anime usually caters to a younger audiences i have found. |

| Hmm, on the same note, is there any good hollywood that focus mainly on comedy that you think deserved 9 or 10? I willing to give comedy 10 because couple of years later, I can still rewatch and enjoy them again. I guess those anime are very niche and not everyone cup of tea. So only excellent anime that entertain wide broad of audience can get highest score. |

| Eh, I think humor is dependent on the person. There's a lot of comedy shows I've watched that I never laughed even once. For me personally, I dont recall ever laughing at OPM's jokes. I also didn't laugh much at Gintama. But I found Prison School and Nisekoi hilarious. So I think the genre is fine as is. Some shows will be misses depending on your humor. Its just like lots other genres. |
| As everyone said, Gintama is more geared towards comedy than Action. Sure, it has dem badass moments but pure comedy far out-weights action. BTW, you should check out "Seto no Hanayome", one of funniest anime I saw. |
| Humour is subjective. A lot of the comedies that I've watched weren't as enjoyable for me as I expected, or maybe I just haven't watched enough comedy anime. Some of the jokes were somewhat amusing, but more often than not, I felt that they were trying too hard, especially with the sexualised jokes. On the other hand, One-Punch Man and Haikyuu!! are the only series that I've watched so far that have actually made me laugh IRL. |

| OPM is definitely comedy. I do think a lot of people look down on comedy. They think comedy is all about delivering punchlines. Comedy can be more than that. It can be funny in a way that attaches you to it. It can have a wild cast that's so memorable you will keep coming back. Galaxy Angel is so underrated. |
