Who's your favorite Steins;Gate character?
| i've read and watched and listened to almost every piece of s;g media and with my expertise i declare that absolutely every labmem is good, and to say otherwise is just flat out wrong. these are some of the most convincingly human characters in any piece of story-based media i've ever consumed. they have fair, understandable & realistic flaws, entirely rational reasons for everything that they do, and on top of that they are all earnest and selfless people. my favorite is moeka because i think she deserves to be appreciated more, she is a kind hearted person and only wants to find a place where she belongs. she does what she does out of a combination of bad luck, past trauma and poor mental health. in more than one worldline she has the chance to realize the magnitude of her wrongdoings, and in some she even helps save the future gadget lab to atone for the things she did, and her actions in Steins;Gate 0 are more than redeeming. I really did not like how the anime my least favorite is daru, he is pretty based and is essentially the backbone of every operation which i strongly appreciate. but he looks and sounds so stupid that he can completely kill any tension in the atmosphere, and his complete inability to act serious, constantly blurting out perversions and internet lingo is often annoying and insufferable. If he had a different voice and didn't look like a *caricature* of a fat person it'd be a huge improvement. Huke often drew him with an unrealistically short and wide head and it just looks so out of place next to everybody else. |

| Okabe could come dangerously close to being annoying in the beginning, but overall I found him to be a very fun and sympathetic character, going through an arc that was nice to see pay off. As for least favorite, probably Mayuri, which is a bit of a hot take I guess. She did grow on me somewhat as the story went on, but I honestly found her to be obnoxious and pandering in the first half, feeling like manufactured waifu bait rather than a real character. And that's a big problem when the show's tension and drama in the second half relies heavily on you caring about her. |
