I can't help but feel that Matsunaga probably expressed his "proposal" to the headmistress. |

The author does not believe in confrontation. Tense moments resolve very quickly. Problem is the father returning story line feels unnatural. In real life there'd be a hell of lot more drama. Not too mention legal action. The in-laws would not have accepted him back that easily. It just wouldn't happen. But again, that's not how the author writes. |
