Oh my... guess who have just found what manga to finish first for this year? You totally convinced me there. You'd make a great sales person lol. I have a feeling it will be one hell of feels trip, since you said past discussion. Merci, Dullboy.
hahaha . My pleasure . I'm happy about that (but now I'll have to take responsability if it happen you don't like it , damn ! ^^ )
My only "warning" would be that it it contain a lot (and by that I mean A LOT) of text , so it's quite long to read and I wouldn't recommend to read it in a row non stop . It is a very good read , but there is no need to rush it .
I wouldn't say it's a "feel trip" , but the emotion is bring with a lot of delicacy and it will definity grow inside the more you read it . Personaly I felt very emotional after finishing the last volume , you'll tell me what you think .

Anyway, I have been reading Aria and found out the atmosphere was almost similar to Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. It was soothing. You'll probably like it since you like heartwarming stories like Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou and Usagi Drop. Should start from the prequel, Aqua, if you wanted to read it.
You really picked my curiosity here . I'm sold too , I'll start with Aqua .
I never thought about reading the manga since I was planning to watch the anime (it's been quite a while but I forgot it) , but I think it's a good opportunity to go the other way and read the manga then .
Nice , thank you for that recommendation .

Edit : I come back from trying to find items for the "TVtropes" and "predictive search" items , and guess what I got :

- for the TVtropes = "Evil Is Cool" (huhu)
"Death note" was mentioned , so I decided it was a sign for me to read it at last (not sure I will like it, but I just have to read it anyway , because for chrismas I received a very big manga art book full of drawing by Takeshi Obata and especially some big full color illustrations of Death note , so I guess it's destiny you know) .
For people that want to know , the art book name is "blanc et noir" (white and black) , but I don't know if it exist in english .

- and then for the "predictive search" the word I got was... "pornography"...
Well it's the challenge that ask for it right ? so I have to do it . I don't want to hold any responsability for it though , it's not my fault . Hahaha
So I guess I'll have to read "Sensitive Pornograph" . *cough*

Thanks! I've added these to the main post. Great addition! And no, the manga doesn't have to be listed in the MAL DB. You can link to it somewhere else or just list the title in case someone else wants to find it.

@Dullboy, Amazon says that art book is in english. It's mighty expensive though. But it does have hikaru no go stuff.

Sumomomo Momomo is a pretty interesting one, with plenty of Ecchi along with some nice action scenes (same creator as Magi). I'm not sure if the length is "not too long" but I think it'd be fine.

I'm also looking for a recommendation for

Not too picky, except that it should be complete and under 100 chapters. Thanks in advance!

Read a manga published before 1990

By published, does it mean that I read a manga that started publishing before 1990 or read a manga that finished publishing before 1990?

Haha I didn't see this before! I really like Obata's art so I'm envious you got Blanc et Noir! Also, as I explained before, the work you choose from the predictive search doesn't have to necessarily include the word you got. It will just more or less include some works and not include others and that's the point, to make it sort of random. You can read that if you choose to though.

Oh the Anime Challenge discussion someone suggested including something there now and waiting a few months and then actually read it haha I guess if you don't have any work that you said "This sounds interesting! I'll read it later." then you can treat it as a free square?

From your PTR I'd say Girl Friends (kya, so cute), Nabari no Ou or Umineko no Naku Koro Ni and not in your PTR I'd say Kiseijuu, Kanojo wo Mamoru 51 no Houhou or if you want something shorter and more cute, then I-Revo: Ice Revolution

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I was wondering if I could include dropped/stalled translations, so long as I'm caught up with the last translated chapter? I would assume so if ongoing manga are allowed.

Not a stupid question. You can definitely include as long as it fits the item and you started reading after January 1st. "Ongoing" can refer to publication or scanlation.

Well, it has a bit of a great area, but it'd be better if it finished publication before 1999 or in early 2000s since it was for the reader to see different styles from different decades.

Since you read Cain/Godchild I'll recommend another Kaori Yuki series Ludwig Kakumei. It is a bit more goofy than Cain but still really enjoyable.

I'm not sure somebody asked about this already and I think the same question came up last year too, but I'm asking anyway just to be sure...

For challenges like "Read a Sci-Fi, Space or Mecha manga", the manga must fall under only one genre or more than one is okay too? For example, what if I read Sidonia no Kishi, which falls under all the three genres?

^ it's not a problem , Kella , the only thing that matter is that there is one tag that match . You can always say to yourself that by having a manga tht fit all the genre at once , your doing it the best way , if you want ^^ . huhu

Do you want some pictures from it ? because I could take some picture and send them to you when I'll have time if you want , not a problem to me at all.
It's great source for things like new profile avatar and such in my opinion , could be usefull (I'm thinking for me too , so as you see I don't do it only to be nice huhuhu) . You tell me .

And for the "predictive search things" , I know I could have "re-roll" and try with something else , but it made me laugh , so I decided to keep it and go with it ^^ .

By the way , I plan to read "Dragon head" for the challenge this time , so I'll tell you what I think about it when I will have finish it if you want .

Well Cross Game is kinda the same story by the same guy but it's 100 chapters or so shorter but it's from the aughts. So you could read a shorter piece for the 80s. Like Ayako. But read Cross Game for the 00s. And get a similar story to Touch for a little less reading time.

@Dullboy Choose the three illustrations you like the most, then take pictures of them. Message me or comment to my profile with those and I'll choose one as my profile image (I haven't changed it in a long while, so I'll take this chance!) Also I'd be really interested on finding out what you think about Dragon Head.

@Kella As Dullboy said, if it fits all tag is fine, but just list it under one when you add it to the list. You can choose which one.

@chronochromata Let me know how you like it!

@Acropyre You could read Bus Hashiru for short stories compilation.

@M00ner I'll always rec Hikaru no Go! Though I also enjoyed Bitter Virgin when I read it a while ago.

I have a question regarding this challenge:

» Read a manga with less than 750/1500/3000 completed members (hard/medium/easy)

I know it's already there but I'm still uncertain if the members must be only the members who marked a certain manga as completed, disregarding the others who marked it as reading, on-hold, etc.

If so, does this manga qualify for the challenge? (Hard)

I would say only the ones that have complety read it, so the manga you chose should be eligible.

@Monstrum It counts. The number of completed members should be less than 750 and that one has 553 as of now. If it goes over 750 during this year, just make a note of how many member had completed it when you finished it.

Fellow manga readers, please recommend me some titles for these challenges:
[ ] Read a manga that is a collection of short stories
[ ] Read a manga that focuses on non-romantic relationships
[ ] Read a manga that focuses on a couple with a romantic relationship
 [ ] Read a manga with a non-human main character
[ ] Read a manga that has a main character that is a professional in his field
[ ] Read a manga that has a main character of gender opposite to the demographic
 [ ] Read a manga based on a one-shot that got serialized
[ ] Read a manga that has not been adapted in any way
[ ] Read a manga recommended to you by another Manga Reading Challenge participant

You don't have to give recommendations to all of them, even just one is greatly appreciated. Obviously, please don't recommend anything that is already in my Reading or Completed list.

Quite a lot. The manga had 6 volumes each of which were between 300-350 pages I think and it is not possible to put the content of over 2000 pages of manga into a movie of 2 hours. The movie covered the first 2-3 volumes and they had altered the ending a bit. The manga goes beyond the explosion caused by akira. I don't really remember the events of the movie as I watched it a long time ago but I think some parts of the story was changed as well.

Don't want to spoil the plot but if you liked the anime I am sure you would like the manga.
