| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- title: POSTERITY Posterity, the future generations of humankind.... This short story shows how humans must be far-sighted in terms of space exploration, since travel times will exceed by far human lifetime....so it will benefit not themselves, but their descendants. This story is a bit confusing at first, since you wonder how come the parents were still alive in the space ship 300 years later. In fact, the nice twist is that they were actually robots programmed with the original's emotions and memories that had to guide the children on the new planet. The nice perspective on posterity is what currently humans lack (environmental destruction and excessive abuse of resources, trying to maintain an "always-expanding economy" are very short-sighed POV) |

| The concepts of the stories are progressively getting bigger in scale. I liked the second story the best and thought it was the most compelling one, but this chapter definitely feels like the most ambitious one yet. The plotline was honestly rather confusing in the middle, because it was established in the beginning that it would be impossible for Mr. and Mrs. Robinson to be in the spaceship themselves, but the brilliantly executed twist at the end luckily cleared up everything. |
