This is how the sales of the Love Live Movie compare to other late-night/midnight TV Anime Adaptation Movies. Not sure if it could surpass Macross Frontier though, as 255K copies is a tall order.

The upcoming NHK Kouhaku 66th on Dec 31st might bring a nice sizable boost to sales, and the Amazon JP Limited Edition just became possible to be ordered again, so it shot up in ranking pretty quickly. Amazon JP says the non-Amazon JP Limited Edition will be back in stock on Dec 25th (moved from the earlier Dec 28th stock date).

Madoka did 148k in week 1 so added 37.5k after that. If Love Live! gained the same % before dropping out the rankings it would be about 1k sales below that top Macross Frontier release (the same % would lead to 253472 sales).
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

Love Live just own.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

http://www.classzone.com/books/lnetwork_gr08/page_build.cfm?content=analyz_media&ch=30

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

You're right. One of my other sources for sales, says this:

(2011) *47,628 劇場版 マクロスF ~サヨナラノツバサ~ (Hybrid Pack:182,337)
(2009) *43,415 劇場版 マクロスF ~イツワリノウタヒメ~ (Hybrid Pack:211,367)

So yeah, I guess Love Live is already at the top if those game bundle sales for the Macross Frontier movies weren't included.

By the way, this is how much Love Live made in a week from just the movie BD sales:
193,769 * ¥10,584 + 8,528 * ¥7,344 = ¥2,113,480,728

Love Live Movie now at 2.84 billion yen:
http://www.bunkatsushin.com/news/article.aspx?id=110618

I’m assuming it just hit that, so that’s after its 28th weekend. It’s run will end after Dec 31 at Shinjuku Piccadilly, after 202 consecutive days of showing. Too bad it didn't have enough time to reach 3 billion yen at the Box Office.

Glad that it kept the numbers. Cannot wait for the sequel. Easily my favourite anime of 2015.

11. **2,317 **2,317 Gintama° Vol.6 Limited Edition

Gintama is one of those long running anime that don't need numbers to run. But I am glad to see it making the cut-off!

12. **2,118 **2,118 Cardcaptor Sakura Blu-ray BOX

Oh, my! How I loved this anime when I was young! CCS holds a very special place in my heart.

The anime isn't even a 10th as popular as it is outside Japan, in Japan. It's definitely ranked outside top 10 for 2015 anime as it didn't even make the 2015 Top 10 Anime published by anikore.

So, I am not surprised. I am not saying the above list should be considered as a yardstick as I almost never appreciate Japanese fans' taste. The manga got its well deserved boost though.

Season 2 will be possible only if MADHOUSE is interested. Ippo and Chihayafuru got sequels because some staff of MADHOUSE are passionate about these series and wanted to work on sequels despite very low return. :)

Not sure what you are looking because summing up all the versions shows OPM is predicted to sell 10k+. Then the high DvD sales implies a strong Fujoshi following for the show, which means its sales is likely to be higher than predicted.

Murata one of the authors of the manga is really interested for a sequel, so they may hire Madhouse again to animate it when the time comes

Anikore isn't a really good place to check the popularity since most Japanese don't use rating site compared to the west, the manga is pretty popular.

So you're the fucker responsible for μ's breaking up! AFTER HIM, MAL!

(To be fair though, if you're not invested in idol anime in the first place I can totally see why someone wouldn't enjoy Love Live! since it's not the greatest to outsiders. But as someone who loves both 2D and 3D idols, it was perfect to me. Like I said, I get it, though. It's a niche thing.)
But was the movie that good?
Depends on each person. For me the movie was perfect.

Very promising. I hope it's underestimate and the real volume sold more.

Anikore isn't a really good place to check the popularity since most Japanese don't use rating site compared to the west, the manga is pretty popular.

Yup. Amazon is a way better way to judge anime popularity in terms of disc sales.
If OPM is not overestimated, it has a good/decent chance at S2. But we'll haver to see how much it drops.

I enjoyed it a lot. It summed up what μ's were and showed that they'd achieved what they set out to achieve. It was a really well done wrap-up of their story. Some of it was a bit cheesy, but that comes with these kinds of feel-good stories anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Yeah i hope it sells good too i so badly want a 2nd season specialy since it earned quite a nice fan-base now and idc what anyone else says but the last 3 episodes at rakudai were better in my opinion then OPM had. OPM will sell good anyway we all know that since it has already has a huge fan-base while for rakudai pretty much barely anyone knew of it until the anime was made :P

I'm not sure if you're baiting or if you're legit curious, but IBO isn't mediocre in the slightest. I'm not surprised at all that it's selling well.

It's the best non-sequel of Fall imo.

Shows that they know nothing because Love Live's fanbase is 43.4% female, with 30.2% of those fans being within the 15 to 19 year old age group: http://yusaani.com/news/2015/09/19/194023/. Anime BDs aren't the only thing fans buy. There's the real life Love Live store in Japan, which is particularly popular among teenage females. There's the mobile game, where the female players are slightly more represented in the player numbers than the male players. Other associated merchandise, music BD/DVD, CDs, etc. Then there are many female fans cosplaying and dancing to the Love Live songs on Nico Nico and Youtube.

I suppose it's the sheep mentally, where they think it's cool to hate on things other people hate. Also, look at how many people lap up those reviews on ANN, and use those to dictate what they watch, rather than deciding themselves what is worthy of watching. Oh well, just have to live with these kinds of people.

Love Live! killing it! That is what I like to see.

Lmao, Valkdrive tho. It's game sales weren't that notable either.

Really hoping OPM can pull that. I'm not too worried about Gundam, but if it could sell 9k that would be great. Also really surprised that StarMu randomly picked up and gained some decent popularity. Good for that show though.
