see that would be a real example of asexuality. Of course, is mayuka lying is another question. Not that I'm trying to call you dishonest, but rather that people have a persona on the internet.
what's the saying? You never actually know anyone?
There's the 'you' you are when you're around strangers, then goes to friends, then family and close friends, and then only the you, you know
which would mean all of us have to take what you say at face value

well we obviously disagree about grey-sexual as a term (and yes obv i've also read scientific works and articles. + i study psychology so please no competition about who read more psychological articles. though to be real studying psychology doesn't do jack shit for knowledge about sexuality, i've learned most of what i know from my own research).
this is a completely different thing, but if you can point at at middle-to-upper part of the bipolar spectrum and label it cyclothymia, why wouldn't you be able to have a name for something in the middle of the sexuality spectrum?

as for it being unnecessary - gender is so deeply rooted in our society that absence of it must have a name. i think it will become unnecessary at some point in the future, so i agree with you in a way, just not at this point in time.
obviously you can choose to use it or not. ie. my mom is non-binary but she just doesn't give a shit about what the name for her gender identity is. meanwhile i am active in the queer community so for me it feels like i should use the term, not because i particularly care about my gender identity, but mostly to raise awareness and promote criticism of the idea of gender.

It's not because there's a reason you won't let someone you're romantically attracted to into your personal space. If sex is creepy then why isn't kissing? Our mouths are more unhygenic then genitals.

Why no one defends homless people, cancer victims, war refugees and others like they defend people with some sort of sexuality other than hetero?

I don't know dude, this whole gender/sexuality thing seems so ridiculous on MAL right now. Okay, so maybe "asexual" means something specific and they don't qualify. I told myself that I was too lazy and not horny* enough to look for a partner these days (note that I said that I wasn't "asexual", or whatever we're discussing at this point). If those people don't feel like fucking and want to call themselves "abstinents" or "asexuals" or whatever, who cares? They just don't feel like fucking right now and nitpicking about the real meaning of asexual or whatever won't change the way they feel.

It's just a random name that helps them define themselves, I don't see the harm. It's better than being a bigot but somehow MAL instantly feels the need to go apeshit on their butts. I wish the christians and muslims (amongst others) here who preach the death penalty for homosexuals and refuse abortion could get half the backlash the gender/sexuality threads generate.

Romantic feelings are feelings where you want to grow old with someone, live with them, care for them, support them - at least that's what i feel.

And I don't care if the person I love has sexual feelings for me.

Its not about competition, I just did not like how you worded that before. What is it like to study psychology? I almost was originally going to study psychology but I did not get the right opportunities to so Im keeping it off till im older if I do go for it.

Actually terms like cyclothymia have actually damaged the diagnosis of bipolar disorder because people stop taking it as seriously by thinking its a spectrum. So people who are not in the highest range are not taken as seriously and then some people who do not even have bipolar disorder can be diagnosed as having it just for having something mildly resembling symptoms.

I think its more efficient to say you dont believe in concepts of gender than it is to say you are agender. That usually just leads people to be confused because agender is a gender identity with only further affirms the validity of gender.

See maybe this is the root of it. Many guys won't do certain sex acts because of what they think genitals look or taste like. It's mostly girls who are asexual so it's likely to be a reason you can overcome and discover.

As you said you can masturbate to relax, but when having sex you don't see the genitals anyway. You just see that person in all their sexiness looking at you as they're pleasuring you. Plus if you'd let them touch your genitals then you get the feeling of masturbation which you like while looking at their face down there. Logically asexuality makes no sense at all, I'm certain it's just a fear of trying or rushing into things, but it's no reason to not be happy.

Give him....

If you do it at a good university and with good literature, it's great. As a study itself. As for psychology students... prepare for an avalanche of stupidity, ignorance, and lack of empathy from about 95% of them. It really makes you wonder why they're even there.
And it is a spectrum. The dimensional approach is becoming more and more popular in psychology/psychiatry. One of the main points of criticism that DSM receives is that it's categorical and doesn't take dimensionality into account. That's why Autism Spectrum Disorder was introduced as a term instead of separating it like in DSM-IV. Cyclothymia is serious disorder btw. Hypomania can be very damaging to one's life, and the depressive episodes, even though milder, are more persistent and shouldn't be dismissed. It's like when people say Bipolar I is more severe than Bipolar II because they don't experience full blown mania.

For the agender thing - idk, i feel "dont believe in concepts of gender" sounds pretty pretentious + people may complain about new labels all they want, but things are clearer when they have a name (again, totally different example, but saying 'alogia' is much easier than saying 'poverty of speech' or using a more descriptive explanation). Also, what I already said - I think it still needs a name as gender is too integrated into society.

Sorry, I noticed my mistake. But still, I'm not here to bash on people or try to make people do things they don't want to. I just know that having a low or no libido may be a sign of endocrine issues. It's not so uncommon as people think. If you are a young person, you should have it checked so everything's alright. Then you can go full asexual and know you're safe.

Asexuality from pretty much everyone who explains it is a lack of sexual attraction, not urges. That means many things turn you on with this person you love, but there's something about full sex that alienates you. Maybe it's the pregnancy risk or fear of pain.

Mmm. No. I admitted to being wrong on this point before.

More so asexuality is something that is very rare from any stand point. If you have a functioning, healthy body and mental state, there is no reason for you to be asexual. And this isn't really exclusive to humans. Any mammal is like this. Sexual impulse is part of our construction. The thing that is different with humans is, we have greater intelligence to resist that urge. But that doesn't mean the urge isn't there.

You've even admitted you haven't had sex. You haven't been intimate with someone. The only person you've ever "loved" is a guy you met when you were really little, and you still say you have something for him. Yet you want romance. You want to please someone. You want someone to be romantic with you.

Reading all this, it just feels like you're more scared of being intimate then anything. Afraid of being close to someone, because you read about how bad people can be. But you never try you never know.

I don't actually care at the end of the day. Besides I can't really understand you without actually talking with you more. So it's kind of presumptuous of me. If you're happy like that, it's fine. I personally just don't believe it's the entire truth.

I'm 40 years old, asexual and heteromatic. While I may find some actors really hot and sexy in some movies and tv shows, and male characters really hot in some arts, like mangas and animes, real life guys leave me cold. Unlike some asexuals out there, I don't find sex gross, but I personally rarely think about sex. I did have crushes but I never wanted to have sex with them.

why does everyone on the internet like to think of themselves as asexual? they make up less than 1% of the population, you're not all on MAL

I'm also a female INTJ which is even more rare. Yet here I am. Introverts spend time on the internet, like my mother, another INTJ, while extraverts are busy doing sports and other activities.

I would describe myself as perhaps "sexually nihilistic". I'm generally more attracted to women, but I'll basically do whatever entity seems appealing at any given moment, which can vary widely.
