| Besides yaoi I don't intentionally avoid genres. I don't watch battle shounen because it doesn't really interest me. The same goes for mecha, martial arts, demons, ect. |

| not avoid, but rarely pick my interest. i am not limited my self, just there are things that pick my interest better. - cars - game - horror - mecha - military - music - mystery - police - psychological - shoujo ai, shounen ai, yuri, yaoi - thriller. other than above is what usually i pick. |

| I tend to avoid shows with overly dark and grim premises or 'torture-porn'-like shows, purely because of my distaste of seeing such things on screen. So that automatically means stuff like Tokyo Ghoul, AOT (to some extent) and P-Pass may find it difficult to get onto my watchlist. That also means the entire Horror genre is out of the window (I never liked watching horror anything) Blame it on personal taste, but I always found myself preferring shows that knows how to balance dark drama, thriller or action with lighter elements PROPERLY (think Noragami), unlike Code Geass, whose almost overwhelming display of racism and mass genocide was contrasted with extravagant...school festivals?! Then theres the issue of R2's obvious dumbing down by replacing actual strategy with typical power-ups and questionable camera angles and fan service. If anything, I would much prefer Slice of Life shows that have little or no conflict at all. SOL has always been my fav genre, spawning my fav titles such as Hibike, Hyouka, Non Non Biyori and Tamayura. But I do believe that my tastes will widen, eventually. If you find my blog posts about the shows I've been following this season, you will see that I'm increasingly enjoying mystery/thriller shows like The Perfect Insider; one such show that I would've avoided the moment I see that the shows deals with murders committed by minors, and other destructive mind-fucking themes. |

| OT: I try to avoid: Mechas, because I don't find appeal in seeing two robots fighting. Romance, I don't mind romance in other genres, but the genre itself is not my cup of tea Yaoi/Yuri, because the plot usually is centered about romance and I don't see the appeal I would include sports, but watching Haikyuu, I cahnge a bit my perspective about them. |

Dumb space operas, social commentary in a cyberpunk setting, psychological mindfuck, epic robots, political thriller, blablabla. Fantasy? It's just a convenient setting to throw a shitload of pointy ears grills at the MC. And both are settings, not genres (kinda like shonen/seinen/josei being demographics and not genres). |
