OPM is killing it this week and it's probably due to that spar in episode 5 seeing as this has been the week it sold the most as of now. Cant wait to see how it will fare following the episodes which will cover even more epic stuff... Btw, can anyone comment on Gintama's sales compared to its previous volumes? I had the impression the last one was above 200k, but maybe it was because it was available for more days? |
5 main aspects I base my ratings on: 1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it? 2. Is it better than Breaking Bad? 3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it? 4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL? 5. Is it actually good? Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant... |

Hinomaru Zumou is almost reaching 30K. This series deserves to sell so much more! Well, at least the people in the magazine understand its worth. Now the only question is why they are ranking it high, but not buying it. |

*1. 255,485 *,255,485 Bleach Vol.70 (5 days). The last volume sold 284,031 copies in 6 days. OPM is having one of those leggy boosts where the peak occurs well after the anime's debut. With vol.1 passing 900k, OPM is really giving its best to rival TG as the current best selling seinen. |

The sample size of a Weekly Shonen Jump Top ranking series is certainly not smaller than 30k readers. Also note that Bleach sales and magazine rankings discrepancy have nothing to do with the different sample size. People just aren't thinking Bleach is between their best 3 series each week, they still buy the volumes though. |

I was comparing the voters to the buyers. In which case the voters are below 1k. That's not the only reason. Some voters vote to support certain series to save them from cancellation and such. But long running series don't need those votes anymore. Sample size of voters is so small that it doesn't really matter if they buy the volumes or not. |

bigivelfhq said: Where did you got that 1k voter number? It's a general estimation I got from Bakuman. They mention that the voters are between 100-900 or something along those lines (the context was that even if Ashrogi Muto manga didn't place high, it can still sell volumes since not all people who read the magazine vote). And the vote results inside the show has about 300+ votes at most for the number one series of the week. I remember once Crow was second with 200 something votes and one piece was first with 300 something votes. Add that with the fact that one person can vote for 3 series and that's a very low size compared to those who buy the volumes. Which isn't surprised considering the votes are sent through mail by dedicated readers only according to Bakuman. |

Wow, dang, BnHA really did benefit a lot from the ending of Naruto.. 175k without anime so early? Nisekoi will never end at this rate.. good for the author I suppose. Hopefully he gets bored of his repetitive cliche routine and comes up with something else, I mean, he can't take pride in his best-seller series if he continues to milk that cow, right? Username said: Strangely I was thinking the opposite. I am happy to see Gakuen Babysitters on the list, but it's one of the series where I can't see it working as well in anime form. Weekly Top 10 01) Bleach (265 173) 02) Gintama (208 068) 03) Boku no Hero Academia (199 175) 04) One-Punch Man (191 245) 05) Nisekoi (184 675) 06) Kingdom (158 637) 07) Ajin (121 205) 08) Yowamushi Pedal (108 159) 09) Haikyu!! (95 332) 10) One Piece (92 416) Kingdom would be above SnK by now based purely on weekly known sales. But with the monthly sales that Ejc will bring today/tomorrow, Snk will once again be above Kingdom by at least 250k, possibly 300k (based on Omoi Furare's October sales). With just one week left, and the fact that Kingdom has only one week of unnaccounted sales (which was before the boost, so probably not much), SNK is garanteed to top it this year. |

This, despite all the doom & gloom from the haters. If Bleach had a t.v. series or movie to at least put it in the spot light now and then it would be selling better. I'm in no way saying that Kubo is doing great things in the manga right now, but the current arc isn't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. The character on the volume cover had a pretty good flashback arc and the story is moving at a better pace than it was a year ago. If by some miracle the anime where to get a new season, I think manga sales would go up a reasonable amount. |

Machination said: Ajin doing good there!!!! Hopefully the Movie + the TV Series will increase it by a lot. <--- One of the best mangas i have read. Hype for the anime!!! If the anime wasn't full CGI I could have seen this becoming quite big, but considering it is, I expect it to get a boost comparable to the one Kingdom got after the anime in the best case scenario.. |
