| Aside from the BEAUTIFULL fluid animation and art than hasnt been topped even today. The other best part of Akira is all the symbolism. If you watch the movie closely and pay attention to the small details you can truly see how fucking awesome this movie is! It basically made anime popular and it defined an entire genre. The tokyo Olympic stadium, The capsule on Kaneda's jacket, The stickers on Kanedas bike (Canon and US air force logo). All these are the small and awesome little things added. And that.... awesome fucking bike that every man secretly wants! Do you guys think this is an awesome movie?  Mod Note: Moved from general Anime Discussion. |

| You can't really claim anything is the best lol. I can definitely see why it'd be your favorite, though. It's got amazing animation and a very unique soundtrack. I also personally thought the story was really good. My favorite is actually either Grave of the Fireflies or Angel's Egg, but I'd never try to say that either of those were the best anime movie. :p |

| It's easily one of my favorites, and even in my top 5 on MAL(although the Ghost in the Shell movie is my #1)... | Akira still has some of the best animation ever produced for an anime (it even has lip sync!), and it's in part responsible for popularizing anime in the West, but I wouldn't call it the best anime movie ever. Ghost in the Shell and Spirited Away are better overall. |

| The story was a bit jumbled. It's the result of compressing a lot of the original material into the movie. But visually speaking, it's an amazing movie. It's still a movie I thoroughly enjoy. I like to refer to this video when talking about the movie. |

Ghost In the Shell, Patlabor 2, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, The Disappearance of Haruhi Stupid face, Grave of the Fireflies, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, 5 cm per second, Sword of the Stranger, Princess Monoke, rebuild of Eva movies, Summer Wars, Redline, just to name a "few". |
