 A new manga series based on the Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Legend of the Galactic Heroes) light novels will launch in the 45th issue of Young Jump magazine. It will be published on October 8.Ryuu Fujisaki (Houshin Engi) will illustrate the new series, which will provide a unique perspective of Yoshiki Tanaka's original work. Fujisaki also released a sample illustration (pictured) of series protagonist Reinhard von Lohengramm. A previous manga series by Katsumi Michihara ended serialization in 2000. That version has more than 15 million copies in circulation. The original light novels were published between 1982 and 1989. The novels have since been adapted into a 110-episode OVA series between 1988 and 1997. A new adaptation was recently announced to be produced by Production I.G. The initial illustration of Reinhard looks kind of funny, but the actual manga art might be better, I'm thinking. |
| Eh, I have no problems with Reinhard's new character design. For the most part (besides Yang and Reinhard's designs) I kind of disliked the OVA's designs, and I have no problem with the cast getting a new (and probably somewhat generic) "anime" look to them. Anyway, I'm extremely excited for this, hopefully it'll help make the wait for I.G.'s anime feel a little less long. |
