The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (light novel)
| Hey guys, I've just finished the series and movies and would like to carry on the story but I'm not sure if I should go with the LN's or go for the manga? I'd prefer manga to reading but heard the manga was poor, so what's your guys opinions? |
| Well the light novels are the original source material so you obviously go with that. Also just going by the ratings on MAL you can see that both manga aren't well received. |

| The manga is similar to the anime but adapts all of the LNs, and the reason why the manga has so low of a score is because it isn't the original source, and according to MAL, finished it's publishing (without an ending). The only other complaint I have with the manga is that the art and storyboarding with the first few volumes can be a bit confusing but gets better over time. But I do believe that the LNs are better, not only because they are the original source, but also because of the way they are written, Haruhi fits the LN medium more than any other. As much as I love the anime and manga, there is no beating the Light Novels in this situation; it pains me to say it, but Tanigawa is undoubtedly a genius, even though he won't write the next volume for whatever reason. |

| I've seen some doujinshi that features Yuuki, and I think that surpasses the manga or the LN... The LN is also on hiatus as I think... |
