Or the 2003 anime as well. Many of my friends consider it as one but I'm kind of on the fence about it. It is amazing though.

It's been amazing for the 16 episodes I've watched of it, so far.

I can't ever find the motivation to finish it though.

I've been watching it on and off since about 2010, and it just keeps going in and out of my on-hold list.

Def the closest thing to a masterpiece that ive seen in an anime. The only shortcoming for me was SPOILER ALERT the final fight after that thing ate god. It felt like a massive tank and spank with no strategy...but the ending made up for it.

No. I somewhat hard to get through it, but I can understand why people like it though. It does have its merit
I'm too weird to live but much too rare to die.

Did anyone notice that FMA:B's score became 9.26 just 4 hours earlier..? man..it's more like Fullmetal Beast:Scorehood..no anime will dethrone it for the next fucking 5 years at the very least..

It's the best thing that's ever been bestowed to mankind.
I don't think you can find anything better in a decade. I've been searching for something that can actually compare to it for 4 years but none proved to be as entertaining. So, yes definitely a mastapis.

P.S. I really hope Hiromu-sensei can have something to follow it up, Gin no Saji was great though.

I'd say it's a masterpiece because it's the most balanced and consistent series in every aspect (at least between 2000-2010).
- plot, characters, character development, design, animation, pacing, execution -
I don't feel there's an aspect that's not above average in the show, specially if you consider the year of release, genres and target audience

You get some anime with better concepts but then they lack in other aspects
Or they excel in animation and art but the concept and plot is not executed so well

Yes,as I'm finding it very hard to enjoy other shounen in the genre after experiencing brotherhood, even old favorites can't match this shows prowess. This is the king of shounen entertainment.

Yup.. Pretty much only this and Code Geass out of all the 170 anime I've completed would I give a total score of 10/10 to..

But my definition of masterpiece doesn't mean perfection. Here's a copy of my 10 and 9 section from my personal rating scale from my profile blog:

10/10: I consider this anime a MASTERPIECE, a true WORK OF ART that I could make a serious argument for it being the absolute best anime I have ever watched. Not "perfect", but the vast majority of it is done exceedingly well.

9/10: I consider this a "GREAT" anime. Just amazing, something(s) about this anime clearly sets it apart from most other anime I have watched. This is an anime that's worthy of being in the top 20 anime I've ever watched..

I consider the manga and FMA 03 to be masterpieces, but I'm also on the fence about FMAB. I think so much of the story is amazing because it was taken from the story of the manga, but they really rushed some things, including some character development, and the music and artwork/animation were really lacking in a lot of ways. They panned over still images for really long intervals of time while people were talking, and a lot of the music is boring. On top of that the humor, which is one of my favorite aspects of the manga, was very heavy-handed in FMAB. I don't think they really loved what they were making.
